My mom used to read this book to me all the time when i was little and i have been searching forever to remember the name of it. i finally just asked her and she actually remembered what it was. my favourite poem was the fireflies poem.. i will definitely be getting this book of poems for my kids to read to them at night. i loved it!!!

I read these poems to my 3 children when they were little. When the were old enough so that I had a little time, I set all of these poems to music. As a piano teacher, I made them progressively more difficult, working with these poems and then many more wonderful poems written for children. I made 2 books of 24 poems, including all of these, and had them beautifully illustrated. The students get a real aesthetic experience while they learn how to read notes. The students learn the piano and also learn great poetry. (I got permission to use all these poems). I am indebted to all these poets for their wonderful work that makes my teaching and my students' learning so enjoyable.

I had this book when I was a child and now I read it to my children. The poems are centered around nature, mostly, and have a nice rhythym.

Our family loved this book! When our children were very small, they memorized every poem in this book - they liked it that much! They still talk about how they enjoyed this book now that they are starting families of their own :) Cheers

There are lterally thousands of stories you can make by flipping the die-cut pages of this book. And all of them are fun! What a neat way to deal with beginnings, middles, and ends. Thanks, Leona!

This little golden book tends toward homogony, and is not filled with the most uniquely crafted or thought provoking poems in the world-- but hey, its on my shelf, and while I would not call it a great work, it's not a bad one, either. This bright collection of shorter length poems of varying styles and meters treats a fair number of familiar items from a young child's small world with pleasantly illustrated, colorful appeal. It is also small in size, appropriate for little hands.
