If anyone doubts that Leonie Rysanek was BORN to sing Strauss give a listen to these few excerpts and marvel. Nobody could carry those arching climactic phrases so typical of the composer, nobody could express the strength and vulnerability of Strauss heroines like Rysanek.So sad that no one can pick up the torch, though Debbie Voight can almost claim it. If you treasure Rysanek and don't have this disc in your collection take action now. Sound quality is compromised but who cares---that voice shines through!
