This review is from: The Leopard Hunts in Darkness (Kindle Edition)
First as ALWAYS read Mr. Smith's works in sequence, whether it is the Ballantine, or Courtney, or Egyptian Series. The enjoyment factor improves along with the understanding of the awesome tales that the author is telling.
I have read everything that Wilbur Smith has written, twice now, and in my opinion he is the best of the epic story tellers writing in the English language. He out writes H. Rider Haggard. He outdoes Michener by giving the reader the feeling that he... then you... are not only there, but part of it all. From sex to violence to lol humour. This is one fine writer. THE LEOPARD HUNTS IN DARKNESS is somewhat different in tone and approach from most of Mr. Smith's work, as it starts out slow never quite boiling just simmering for a lot longer than my nerves liked, but then he found the loud-pedal, and it rockets off at a breath taking pace, that leaves one panting and gasping for air. One fine read. |
