5.0 out of 5 stars Columbia-Sony-Collectors SCORE AGAIN, April 11, 2002

Another beautiful two fer from the above. First of all, when
you start with music by the composers on this former LP set,
you are FAR AHEAD! All the Les Brown Band does is embellish it's own style, and the results are outstanding. Those familiar
with the Band of Renown will get EXACTLY what they expect...,
4 trumpets, 4 trombones 5 reeds & 4 rhythm, all blended into
a swinging; yet MUSICAL set which for years has come to be a
synonomus hallmark of the Les Brown Band...A word

about one of the trumpet players on the RODGERS set: Jack Sheldon
was added to trumpet section for one cut; LITTLE GIRL BLUE, and
I have NEVER heard a solo like Jack blows on this title. He actually CARESSES the trumpet on this, and isn't even listed in
the personel section. If you are undeceided as to wether or not
to order this set, BUY IT BASED ON THIS CUT ALONE...I can tell you this is something special....DW

5.0 out of 5 stars Les Brown Plays Lerner and Loewe and Richard Rogers, July 31, 2008

This is first a great swing band. Then the band plays great arrangements of some very fine and very familiar tunes from Camelot, My Fair Lady, Gigi. Then they play swing versions of the standards My Funny Valentine, Have You Met Miss Jones, Little Girls Blue and The Lady is a Tramp. This covers the swinging 1950's and gets into the early 1960's. I saw this band in person in 1956. They really enjoyed what they were doing. It shows in their sound.

ONe of my favourite big bands who always plays music in his own favourite style, a big band with such a great sound and always plays the most beautiful songs I know, but when I talk about the big bands I played with the young people around me,they didn't know the big bands and that's a shame, because it' so beautiful that you could dream or dance abolut it.
Thanks anyway for the quick delivery and everything was ok.
