5.0 out of 5 stars Masterful recordings with the composer conducting, February 21, 2000
By
This review is from: The Leroy Anderson Collection (Audio CD)
This 2 CD set is a must for fans of the light hearted Pops composer Leroy Anderson. It features all of the stereo recordings that Anderson made of his music, except for his Christmas arrangements. Nobody could capture the whimsy and excitement of Leroy Anderson's music like the composer. 8 Anderson pieces are available only on this 2 CD set which has 47 diferent pieces.

5.0 out of 5 stars All the Anderson Favorites in One Place, April 10, 2001

Here they are, all in one place, all the witty, amusing, melodic, delightful little pieces composed by Leroy Anderson. If you are fond of them, these CD's are a must. Even if you do not think you are a fan of Anderson's music, this collection is still a must, for in all probability you will find yourself saying, "Oh, I know that; I didn't know that that's where it came from." Well, that's where it did come from, along with many other very enjoyable light compositions, which make these CD's a great listening experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bugler's Holiday, December 24, 1999
This review is from: The Leroy Anderson Collection (Audio CD)
I have been an avid admirer of Leroy Anderson for a long time. I have had the opportunity to play some of his works in the past. Bugler's Holiday and A Trumpeter's Lullaby have always been my favorites.

4.0 out of 5 stars THE MASTER HIMSELF, January 16, 2000

It's so refreshing to hear the familiar Leroy Anderson gems played by the master himself. I thought the sound was not as clear as what I have on LP versions, but that may be just an illusion. BLUE TANGO is here, and THE TYPEWRITER, and many others. My favourite is SARABAND. Altogether, a most enjoyable set, with the music of Anderson played by Anderson. (Oh, when will they release A CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL on CD?)

Not only are the compositions beautiful and the arrangements pleasurable individually, but listening to the entire collection puts you in a great mood for the rest of the day.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Leroy Anderson Collection -, March 27, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: The Leroy Anderson Collection (Audio CD)
This CD collection contains most of Leroy Anderson's musical favorites. Memorable songs such as the "Blue Tango", "Bugler's Holiday", "The Syncopated Clock", "Plink, Plank, Plunk", "The Typewriter", and many more classical favorites. This should be a welcome addition to any "Pop" Music Collection. A truly beautiful collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Musical History Alive Today, February 6, 2000

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: The Leroy Anderson Collection (Audio CD)
Leroy Anderson and his music is arguably of ubiquity more so than most of not all composers of the 20th century. To write and play "kittenish" music with and for full orchestra takes a talent steeped in great tradition. Spike Jones was known as a wacky band leader but beneath that played some of the finest serious music ears have heard. If you do not Anderson in your collection I believe your collection has a void.
