It's very easy to drive, and I've had no problem driving it with 5V and sinking the current through a microcontroller. No driver required for an Atmega328P.
After about two years of extremely light, intermittent use, this relay has died on me. Regardless of input (open or closed), and regardless of the LED status light, the output circuit is always closed, causing the connected device to run continuously. Things fail, but if this thing fails, and whatever you have hooked up to it can't run indefinitely, you have a real problem.
Works flawlessly and highly recommend.
It does say it needs a heat sink. My air compressor only runs for maybe a minute or two at a time, so I haven't noticed any appreciable heat output from this device. I used some heat sink goop on the back and simply mounted it in a 4" square metal electric box that had a smooth back; that seems to give it a bit of heat sink.
I used a spare 4.5VDC cell phone charger with the end cut off as the DC supply for control voltage. It seems to be working fine.

Failed on the first try. No indicator LED, no relay response. Nothing. I used a heat sink as suggested. I am very disappointed with this poorly made product. Read morePublished 12 months ago by The Eye
