Tintin en Amerique (Tintin in America) is the perfect picture book for adults as well as children at an advanced stage of learning the French language. The illustrations almost tell the story and for the reader with a good understanding of French, the text is witty and amusing. Herge's tale is timeless with one caveat: it was written in the 1940s before anyone could possibly know what would be politically correct language today. Still it is an adventure story and who doesn't love an adventure?
