Editorial Reviews

With this new album "LES DOIGTS DE L'HOMME" ( the fingers of people) have the wish of get out of the old way of thinking and operation of Jazz Manouche, of the Swing. Even there remains a base; a pretext for the meeting, the idea, what they want to do is to impregnate the styles in order to make something personal. Under testing the limits and looking for the other colours and envies, it allows to the band to accomplish a quite proper fusion.

The compositions draw from the universe of Olivier Kikteff and some other members of group. The inspirations are universal and notably oriental and Balkan. A willingness of developing this proper style for the instruments with strings can be inspired with the different sonorities that we could classify in the musical world and the jazz world.

The arrangements show themselves very worked and rather inspired with the manner of their behaviours of the originality and the sonority. Wishing to create a music that could appear popular and accessible fro the mass public, the interpretation remains fluid, clear and musical. The emotion, the sensibility and the dream are omnipresent.

This product is manufactured on demand using CD-R recordable media. Amazon.com's standard return policy will apply.

5.0 out of 5 stars Les Doigts Dans La Prise December 25, 2008
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
i first heard this music in a record store in Amsterdam and thought, what is this, i had to ask the staff and it was this album, l couldn't buy it at the time but when i got back home to Australia i thought, i must get this cd. This cd is like theatrical gypsy jazz full of surprises with twists and turns and wonderful musicianship, i find it very amusing and like it alot. If you're a fan of gypsy jazz i think you'll love this cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent fresh manouche jazz from France!!! May 24, 2008
Format:Audio CD
I've seen Les Doigts de l'homme for the first time at the Django Festival 2008 at Liberchies(hometown of Django Reinhardt in Belgium)and I was completely blown away from their fresh and original gipsy jazz. Lead guitar player, Olivier Kikteff, demonstrates an extraordinary virtuosity, rarely seen, but the songs are very original and beautiful as well. The mix of Selmer guitars, banjo's, ouds and cajon and the different tempi are the trademark of Les Doigts de l'homme. I can highly recommend this most recent CD from Les Doigts de l'homme to everyone who loves the guitar, loves manousch jazz, cross-over music,etc... Buy this, you won't regret it!!!
