Juliette Greco has been singing for decades. She has been described, quite rightly, as a real left bank bohemian and possesses a voice quite different from that of the great Edith Piaf. Her's is a kind of deep, husky style of singing one might associate with Paris cabarets, although "la Mome" (Piaf) also sang in such venues early in her career. It's an interesting contrast and I would recommend this CD as another good example of French popular music. Many of the tracks are from live performances and the album title "Les Feuilles Mortes" (The Dead Leaves), is the original French song that was interpreted in the United States as "The Falling Leaves", made popular as an instrumental by pianist Roger Williams.
