Book Description

So you’re a lesbian?

Deciding to be true to yourself is one of the best, and most important, decisions you’ll ever make. And making love to women ain’t so bad either.

Being a lesbian encompasses far more than sexual orientation. Many women find that opening themselves up to the gay community is like moving into an entirely new culture. It’s a way of life. It can impact how you think, how you love, who you love, and how you experience every single day of your existence. It can impact who you connect with, where you feel comfortable living. How close you remain to your family. How close you stay to your straight friends. How comfortable you feel living in your own skin.

Yeah, it’s BIG. But in a good way. You’re opening yourself up to the amazing experiences that lay ahead of you.

Lesbian Dating 101: The Gay-Girl's Guide to Finding Romance, Sex and Love is written to help women explore and learn more about their lesbian sexuality, whether they’re just discovering it themselves, or they’ve been making out with women for decades. Like they say, no woman is an island. So, regardless of where you are on this journey, you will take something positive from this book, be it support, guidance, lingo, reassurance, sex tips or even just a dildo recommendation.

Contrary to its name, Lesbian Dating 101 is not just a gay-girl's guide to dating and pleasing your partner in bed, it’s also a virtual GPS to solving almost every issue that women in the lesbian community face today. From understanding our bodies (and our partners’) to coming out at work; from staying safe from sexually transmitted diseases to getting the most out of your sexual experiences; from getting up the confidence to approach a woman to getting up the confidence to tell your children (gasp!) that their mom is a lesbian.

Being gay may not be something you expected for yourself, but sometimes the most amazing things in life come in the most unexpected of ways. Get the Lesbian Dating 101 book today. Flip through it, bookmark it and share it with your friends. There’s something in here for absolutely everyone!

4.0 out of 5 stars A Compendium of Lesbian Relationship Information January 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The author has assembled an "Everything that you ever wanted to know about being a lesbian but were afraid to ask" book that should probably be a part of every High School reference library in the country. There is virtually nothing missing here.

The various permutations and incarnation of Gay and Lesbian terms are defined and explained, the ins and outs of coming out at work and at home are explored and the initiation and continuation of relationship building throughout the life of a Lesbian are discussed in great length.

The book in an entire look at the life of a Gay woman and the title 'Lesbian Dating 101' does not really do the contents justice. There is far more here than dating advice though the dating advice in the book is covered thoroughly as well.

I found the Barbie doll images to be inane, unnecessarily explicit and frankly distracting but I have never been a huge Barbie fan. I must say however that the use of the doll as a continued theme was clever. Maybe I would have enjoyed the images more if the author had included Police Officer Barbie, Firefighter Barbie or UPS driver Barbie ;) Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is an Excellent Book January 27, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you are gay, or think you might be, read this book. If you have family members or friends who are gay, read this book. If you are homophobic PLEASE read this book. If you want more information on being gay read this book.

While I personally am not gay I do have several family members who are, although they are mostly males, not females. However, I bought this book because I wanted to know more about the gay/lesbian lifestyle because of those family members and I was amazed at the amount of information provided. This book covers so many aspects of the gay/lesbian lifestyle and it is thorough and well written.

Jenny covers all aspects from coming out to dating and living together. She also covers the sexual aspects of being lesbian with a tell-it-like-it-is approach that is refreshing. What a gift she has for putting things into perspective!

I highly recommend this book.

Very well-written and easy to read.
It's a great guide for someone struggling with their identity
and personally and publicly identifying who they truly are.
I've watched, loved and supported more than one person go through the
process of "discovering" their lesbian identity, and I must say that a lot
of this book is really spot on and accurate. The parts that I didn't
observe don't make it any less accurate, I just don't know about
those parts. Everybody's journey is different.

While I do have a familiarity with the lesbian experience,
I don't know a whole lot about the bisexual experience, but I find it
hard to believe that a marginalized group like gays
and lesbians would have it within their collective psyche to
judge or ostracize the bisexual like there's something wrong
with them being bisexual That's just crazy talk. Just
like you don't want to be judged and/or persecuted or blamed
for who you choose to love, I'd think you'd be more careful about
judging, persecuting, ostracizing bisexuals for who they love.
Nothing to do with the author or how it was written, but that
was probably the most striking thought I had.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book I wish I would have read a long time ago! September 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
If you have ever experienced a moment in your life where you just think to yourself, "I wish I had someone to talk to about this," then this is the book for you. I still remember the day I actually admitted to myself that I might be a lesbian. I had no one to go to about this and had no clue what to feel because it was all so new to me. Now, years later, I wish that I would have stumbled upon this book. "Lesbian Dating 101" is, in my opinion, a must-read for everyone in the LGBT community. Yes, it's not just for lesbians! Heck, I think that even if you are heterosexual, you will thoroughly enjoy this book. Within, I learned several terms that even I did not know how to truly define. Yet, what I found most interesting was the part where it mentions the dos and don'ts of coming out. I remember when I came out (well, halfway came out because my mom has yet to bring this up again) I felt like I was screaming "I'M GAY" off mountaintops and I still did not understand why she was so upset with me and making me feel so guilty for being... myself. It wasn't until I read this book that it finally made me feel sympathetic towards her because let's be honest, coming out is hard on not only yourself, but also those people that have known you all your life. Hot topics like coming out, lesbian lingo, sex and even how to meet people in your area make this book interesting. So, if you're wondering if this book is for you, I'll make it simple: Yes, it's for you! I read it from cover to cover in under an hour. I HIGHLY recommend this book!

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun and informative October 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I have a few gay and lesbian friends, so reading this book really opened my eyes to what they're feeling and how they reached the point of coming out to the world, and accepting their sexuality.

It was written in a fun, yet informative way - and now I don't have to feel dumb when my friends use words like, "tarnished star," or "toaster oven."

It also answered some personal questions that I'd be too embarrassed to ask, like, "how do lesbians even have sex?"

I'd recommend this book to anyone un-sure. I'd even recommend it to men so they can spice up their sex life with their wives.
