This text should be required reading for all policymakers, lawyers, practitioners, researchers, and educators who work with families. I would recommend this text to any student interested in families, gender, or sexualities. This book can be read by a wide audience and will be a wonderful resource for prospective and active lesbian and gay parents, their children, and their children's children. With this text, Goldberg secures her status as an expert scholar in the burgeoning field of lesbian and gay family studies.

Not only is it extremely well researched, but also very readable. The best resource I'm aware of in this field. Useful for researchers, clinicians,students, but also parents and family members.

This appears to be a most complete and concise reporting and analysis on a very timely, "hot" topic. Kudos to the author for her thorough research and sensitive explication of the subject. This book is suitable for the academic community but equally for all parents, especially those of school age children, regardless of sexual preference.

I absolutely love this book to bits, both for the writing style and for the quality of its content. Lesbian and Gay Parents has an entertaining style to read and each chapter is thoroughly introduced with adequate context. I cannot empahsise enough how easy to read each of these sections are. You can read this book piecemeal or from cover to cover. This is a book that supports lesbian and gay rights (LGBTI rights more broadly are mentioned but the research is sparser) but it is solidly based on what science has found, not on what politics says should be. If it's possible to have a crush on a book, I certainly have one.

You don't need any particular background in science to read this book because the usefulness and context of the research is clearly explained. I'd recommend it not just to those who have an interest in LGBTI issues but to anybody who is a member of a family - because this book not only talks about how these minority families are different but also the ways in which all families are alike.

My husband and I are working with an adoption agency to create a family. Dr. Goldberg's important research on gay parents and their children is conveyed here so expertly that we contacted her to take part in her study, the Transition to Adoptive Parenthood Project (TAPP). It was heartening to read real data, free of emotion, showing how children of gay parents thrive.

Fascinating integrative review of the research on same-sex parenting. The first time this body of research has been organized and presented in a readable manner. Suitable for undergraduates as well as seasoned researchers.
