4.0 out of 5 stars People, do your research first!
Since I'm a Montrealer (like LOE) I've been listening to them for a while. And people don't seem to realize that Lezzies on X is all about taking music from (not so) well known lesbian musicians and making dance tracks out of them. I think that they've done a GREAT job doing that. Whenever I listen to LOE I just have the GREATEST URGE to start dancing (which is bad since...

3.0 out of 5 stars lesbians on ecstasy
Lesbians On Ecstasy, from Canada, Montréal, are Fruity Frankie on vocals, Veronique Mystique on monster bass, Jackie the Jackhammer on drum pads and Bernie Bankrupt on laptop.
Their concept is taking music from various lesbian artists from the past 70ies, 80ies and 90ies, and put it into dance-music.
It`s a sort of bringing these icons of the past,...

I think that they've done a GREAT job doing that. Whenever I listen to LOE I just have the GREATEST URGE to start dancing (which is bad since most of the time I'm actually on the bus or metro). I think LOE has done a great job with it. It's repetitive sure, but isn't that kinda the point?

Their concept is taking music from various lesbian artists from the past 70ies, 80ies and 90ies, and put it into dance-music.
It`s a sort of bringing these icons of the past, lesbian icons, to a new generation of lesbian and kind of tie it to the communities.
The album is a mix of ElectroPunkMetalDancefloor and songs like "the pleasure principal", "parachute clubbbing" and "bichsy" really make you want to dance, but i think to get an complete impression you have to see them live, because live they/their songs are much more intensive, and the "lessies on x" are presenting their audience a very powerful and energetic show.
"lesbians on ecstasy" is an excellent band, and i think a little weakness of the album is that the mixed songs sometimes doesn`t transport their great power.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is new....and good stuff!!!, December 13, 2004
This review is from: Lesbians on Ecstasy (Audio CD)
Okay, so now we have my raunchy music once again. This isn't like, in your face raunchy like Lords of Acid. It's more subtle, dirty kind of stuff. Though at times, it's just like..."WOW! These girls are NAUGHTY!"

Otherwise, for those of you wondering exactly what KIND of music it is. It's like...rock dance music. Something like KMFDM if you will, but a bit weirder and more rocky than goth/industrial.

My favorite track so far is "The Pleasure Principal". It's really a naughty song, concerning a principle...and other things.

The beats are good, it has hard guitars in it, and the singer's voice is actually very pretty.

If you people like Le Tigre or Chicks on Speed, this is a perfect addition to your collection. I only bought this CD because I had Chicks on Speed, so....Lesbians on Ectsay? It's all the same to me....I'm glad I bought it. It's good and I do like it, a LOT!

4.0 out of 5 stars exactly what you are looking for, February 9, 2006
This review is from: Lesbians on Ecstasy (Audio CD)
Yes, there are a couple songs on this cd that just feel out of place or just wrong,,,but the rest of the cd is great. This is perfect music for working out, getting ready to go to the club, dancing in your room, driving in your car (or on the bus), or walking to work, it gets you going. so buy this cd if you been a lil' lazy lately and get your ass up and moving.

1.0 out of 5 stars Clearly a terrible idea, December 21, 2004
This review is from: Lesbians on Ecstasy (Audio CD)
Lesbians on Ecstasy is, by all counts, one of the worst bands I heard this year. Their material is unoriginal and repetitive, which was evidenced by their lack of ability to motivate the crowd to listen, much less dance. The previous review compares them to Chicks on Speed, a far more entertaining group, if you are interested in this mini-genre. Although Lesbians on Ecstasy toured with Le Tigre this year, the two acts are from completely different worlds - the former is clearly more associated with Le Tigre's latest partnership with corporate demons Strummer-Universal and MTV.

Don't fall for the catchy name or "hip" album art. There's nothing worthwhile behind the curtain.
