The CD which was "The Canvas Can Do Miracles" sounds great on CD. All of the songs are remakes that were included on the 1982 album and are fantastic done by Lesley Gore. I was disappointed, however that the CD has a different name, and has no artwork at all from the original record. So, if you really want the music, buy it, if not, search for the old LP. If only if they could do this with her 1972 album, "Someplace Else Now."

As a re-release of the classic album The Canvas Can Do Miracles, which deserved more attention in 82, this CD is a great addition to any collection. Even if you own the 82 album, as I do. One of the great things this one does is allow Lesley to move between the pop that made her famous through a country cover.
This shows Lesley's innate ability to make any song of any genre, uniquely hers.

Lesley Gore recorded the original album back in 1982, The Canvas Can Do Miracles. It's great that the album is finally available on cd. A classic album by a classic lady! Lesley's fans will love her interpretation of these classics. For everyone just discovering Lesley, you are in for a real treat! Pick up a copy and enjoy Lesley Gore at her finest!

Working with a limited budget for Columbia's strange but profitable supermarket label (yes, the L.P.s were sold at grocery stores) Lesley selected a classy assortment of songs and working with limited instrumentals (possible a synthesizer and not much else) turned out a topnotch album of great singing, great interpretation and great intelligence. The original also had a great cover and a great title. Maybe one day the proper cover can be used. Anyway, this is prime Lesley and it was way ahead of the curve for its time and still is excellent.

WHY WOULD I BUY THE CD PRODUCT WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT SONGS ARE ON THE THING? DA!
