Transfer your images with a hot iron to virtually any surface-fabric, paper, wood, glass, canvas, metal & more

Review

TAP is a premium-quality transfer paper that allows artists to transfer images to virtually any surface with the heat of an iron. Users can now have more fun with fabric, paper, wood, glass, metal and more. (Art Materials Retailer, June 1, 2010)

Fast and easy to use, these transfer sheets produce excellent results. They go into an inkjet printer smoothly and come out with the image entirely intact. No printer? That's OK! Paint, stamp, or draw images directly on the sheets, and then transfer them to fabric. The fabric can be washed, folded, and stitched, and the image won't crack or fade. You can also use these sheets to transfer images to paper, wood, glass, and metal. (Quilter's Newsletter, 12/10)

I have used various transfer papers in the past with spotty results. Often the sheet would pull part of the transfer off when I tried to remove the paper. TAP was so easy! Print, iron and remove and I had a perfect result. Highly recommend! -Ruth Burke

I've used other transfer papers before and not been happy with the results. Very often I'd have some of the image transfer missing for whatever reason. This transfer paper is very easy to use and transferred every last detail of my image. Good quality transfer with good adhesion. -Trisha Doornbosch

This was so easy to use! With TAP you can do things that before were extremely difficult and even impossible! I just love it and will be using it from now on! - Jess Pouncil

I debated whether I should get the 5-sheet pack or the 18-sheet pack, as this isn't cheap. But neither are the results!! As soon as I transferred my first vintage illustration on my slipcover, I was so excited that I started finding other projects I could do. Next on my list? A vintage coral illustration on an existing linen pillow.

Graphics Fairy (Karen at [...]), an experienced DIYer with transfers, highly recommended this paper and so I went with it. It's washable and durable and not stiff or flaky, and the background is transparent. All in all, forgiving and easy to use product. Will need more!

I have used this product in many ways on art quilts, It works well and transfers images clearly. I have sewn though the images and that works well too. There may be other products like this, but I haven't found one that works better.

I bought this to try on canvas and it worked OK for some prints, not for others. Although it came with the basic instructions, there were no extra tips, like enhancing the color on the photo before using. With trial and error, I was able to come out with a few good results but ran through the paper quickly, making it a costly exercise. I found a different brand locally that was a little better priced for testing results.

The transfer paper worked pretty well, but you do have to make sure you trim all of the excess off. I did it on a white onsie and had to redo it because the excess I left looked yellow on the shirt. Also, I was very dissapointed that even after just one wash the image had severely faded. It said it was washable and I followed the washing directions. However, for the most part it did do what I needed.

I tried to transfer onto metal and all it did was smear and smudge. I had to wipe it off, which was difficult, and go another route. Not sure if it wasn't meant for smooth metal or what, but it definitely doesn't work. I haven't tried it on any other materials, so can't say anything there.

I used this on a wood plaque and it would not iron off all the way. Half the words were missing and wouldn't iron on if I tried to reduce it. This probably best for tshirts

Some notes about my project: I am transferring a full color coat of arms onto white felt and attaching it to the back of a display case.

This product produced fantastic results. Felt is not one of the recommended fabrics, but the transfer went great. All the small details in my source image were there and the colors were almost as vibrant as the source. I created 1 large image from 2 sheets that we taped together using painters tape. The packaging says that you may have to iron for a while and that was true. For my 12.5 x 11 image, it took 30 minutes to transfer. The paper has to be VERY hot before it will peel off. For a large image like mine, I found it was easier to iron the entire image for a while until it was mostly transferred and then iron as I peeled, so that the paper was extremely hot wherever I peeled. If there is any resistance when you peel, do not try to force it. Just hold the iron on that section for a minute or so and it will peel right up. Your transfer is only going to be as good as the source image, so don't use a copy. Print the source image straight on to the paper. I made a copy and printed that on to the paper for my first attempt and it didn't look as good as when I printed it from the digital source.

I needed this to transfer on felt and it did a great job. Any spot that didn't have ink on it transferred clear on to the felt. You can see it in bright direct light, but it wasn't a problem for me since my project won't be in direct light. Also, the felt came out stiff, which again, is perfectly acceptable for my project. I won't be washing this, so I can't speak to fading issues raised by others.

Always evaluate your needs against the good and bad qualities of the product before buying, but I was ecstatic about how this came out especially considering the fact that my fabric was felt. The price was well worth the results for me.

I read about this brand of transfer paper at the Graphics Fairy Website. You can transfer reverse images to fabric and wood and it was so easy!! The transfer looks so professional! My head won't stop spinning with the possibilities of what I can do with this. If you are looking for a transfer paper and can't decide which one, stop looking and purchase these!! :+) You will have sooooo much fun!!
