This is actually a good one,
By A Customer
This review is from: Leslie Sansone - 2 Mile Walk [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I've never had the discipline to exercise regularly - it's more often for a few months and then I lose motivation. I've bought exercise videos before and all they do is create the illusion that I use them to people who see them on the shelf. This one, however, is getting through. I bought it after "falling off the wagon" when my water aerobics class stopped; it was too cold out to want to walk or go to the gym. But this tape is actually something I don't mind doing. It's short enough that I can look at the clock and feel motivated to do it because I know I'll be done in half an hour. The workout is easy to follow and low-impact and you do work up a sweat. I especially like her attention to ways you can modify steps if you don't have the room or aren't sure how to do them; I think she's really sensitive to the things that usually discourage people. She's upbeat without sounding like a cheerleader and encouraging without being patronizing. The steps are generally easy and it's motivating to have the clock showing your progress now and then. I also like how she says you can do 1 mile, 1 1/2, or 2 - when I don't feel like doing anything, or don't feel I have time, I remember that and just do the first half of the tape. That's the best thing about it - she makes you feel like doing SOME exercise rather than nothing, and that leads to doing more. It's really working for me. Also, all the people in the tape exercising behind her are "regular folks" introduced by the amount of weight they've lost, so that's motivating too. I'm already looking into her other tapes (and I never thought of myself as someone who would do this!).

Helped me lose 15 pounds (so far),

This was the first of five of Leslie's videos I purchased over the last six months. I enjoy this video quite a bit and use it in various combinations with the other videos I've purchased by Leslie. In my opinion, this is the most intensly aerobic video she has made to date. The workout is a two mile "walk" in 25 minutes, filled with a lot of low impact moves such as sidesteps, grapevines, arm movements and other cardio raising moves you can do in four square feet in front of you television. It is cardio focused with toning a low second place. There are two parts of the video that may be hard on delicate knees, so keep that in mind. If you're concerned about knees, you may want to start with her "Over 40" video; a 30 minute/ 2 mile workout that is very good, but less intense - perhaps start with that and move up to this "2 Mile" video. I found I did better when I did that. If you want a lot of toning and cross-training focus I recommend her "In-Home Walking" video, a 20 minute mile with hand weights or "Walk and Firm: Fat Burner" video, a 35 minute, 2 mile walk/cross training video with timed intervals of aerobic and weight training (using hand weights). Of course, a great addition is her "Miracle Mile" video, great for that short, intense burst of cardio (15 minutes) for those days on the run....

Leslie's Best Exercise Video,
By A Customer
This review is from: Leslie Sansone - 2 Mile Walk [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I like several of Leslie Sansone's walking workout videos, but this is her best. From best to worst, here's how I rank the five I own:2-MILE WALK -- her best video. Good pace, lots of variety. Not too hard for a beginner. It has a mileage gauge, which helps keep me going. (1996) MIRACLE MILE -- a 1-mile walking workout in 15 minutes, plus a cool down and stretches. Great for those days when I haven't much time but I want to get some quick exercise in. Also good on days of cramps, if tired, etc. (1996) WEIGHT LOSS WALK -- has 3 20-minute segments of 1 mile, 1.5 miles, and 1.5 miles. Excellent for variety. Handy for those days when I want a different distance. Segments can be done alone or combined for a wide variety of distances -- up to 4 miles. A mix of familiar and different movements. Some of the exercises are a little goofy but it's good variety. Don't like the silent gaps between songs. (1993) Not recommended: WALK & FIRM -- Leslie with hand weights doing safe and simple exercises. Unfortunately, I really can't get into it, and I've never finished the video. (1998) Leslie's videos are hard enough but not too hard for people just getting back into exercise. When I use them daily (especially mornings) I find I'm much less hungry all day. I've lost 9 pounds in 3 weeks. I try to exercise daily but usually do so 4-6 times a week. I feel better, sleep better, and have better posture.

A good way to exercise,

I bought this video, the "40 plus Walk Aerobics Video" and "Firm Up Fast" as a starter course. I found the "2 Mile Walk" and "Firm Up Fast" to be a good pair, for the following reasons. Leslie Sansone is a very engaging person with just the right amount of encouragement to keep me going. In the 2-mile walk, she does a better job of anticipating changes in steps and motion than in 40+, so it's easy to follow. The people in the studio with her are well synchronized, in contrast to the 40+ workout, where the disorganized bouncing and odd facial expressions (details! details!) are enough to throw me off stride. Leslie starts her count on the left foot in the two-mile walk and right foot in 40+, incidentally. As an over-weight, over-60 beginner, I can easily work up a sweat in the lunges, which occur in the first 3/4 mile and are too fast-paced for comfort, but it never gets any harder than that. I haven't noticed any weight loss after the first four weeks, but I haven't been paying much attention to dieting, either. I have noticed my pants fitting looser, however. The testimonials from happy walkers at the start of the video are annoying after the first time, but one can fast forward past them. Firm Up Fast gives easy exercises that still raise a sweat. Bottom line: I'm still motivated to use these two to exercise, and that's the main purpose.

VERY EFFECTIVE, EASY ON THE BODY,
By A Customer
This review is from: Leslie Sansone - 2 Mile Walk [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This tape is wonderful for the person wether they are ten pounds over weight or two-hundred pounds over weight. It's easy on the body, no fancy choreography, just very basic steps. You can choose to go half a mile, one mile or the full two miles. You work up to your own level. I've gone from weighing 300 pounds (thirteen months ago) to weighing 159 and still losing. My secret? Consistency with exercise. The exercise you CAN do, is the exercise you WILL do. This tape is "doable" for even with someone like me who was at a virtually non-existent fitness level. Because it was something I COULD do, I stuck with it on a regular basis and saw results.

I am over 40 and more than 80 pounds overweight - I have been treadmill walking 2 miles 3x a week for 8 months and I found Leslie Sansone's 2 mile walk challenging but do-able. It is definitely a better workout than what I have been doing but I can finish the whole thing. Her voice is easy to listen to, the music is good, and she mixes it up enough to make it interesting but not confusing. It goes by so fast you won't believe that you did the whole two miles by the time it ends. I love this tape!

This is a short workout (approx 30 minutes) that is suitable for a variety of fitness levels. Leslie leads a group of exercisers in a 2 mile walk, about 15mph. A meter at the bottom tracks your progress. A beginner can easily stop at 1 mile, and eventually work up to 2. A more advanced exerciser can use this tape in addition to another tape or on a day when a less rigorous workout is needed. I enjoyed the workout. I have a number of intense, dancy tapes and I was looking for something that was simple and quick. Leslie varies her step enough to prevent boredom but not so much that you have trouble keeping up. Side taps, basic marches, grapevines just simple steps. The conversation is easy and encouraging. She does get a bit shrill in her laughter in the middle (why dont these video leads realize we will have to listen to it over and over when we do the tape) but fortunately its only for a few seconds. Overall the tape is a nice addition to a fitness program!

Highly Motivating!,

This review is from: Leslie Sansone - 2 Mile Walk [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I have a number of workout videos and this is my favorite. First of all, it is a 2 mile walk in 25 minutes and I can almost always find 25 minutes to exercise. I find excuses NOT to do the 60 minute tapes. Plus it's a good, strong daily workout. Just as importantly, Leslie is excellent. She is natural, relaxed and funny and provides excellent cues. The mileage chart that shows up on the screen is very motivating. You can see how far you've gone and how far you have yet to go. It helps. Leslie is also the only instructor that has not irritated me after a few weeks. I like her low-key, good-natured demeanor. She's so real that you almost feel like you're in the class with her. I don't like exercise at all, but Leslie and this tape have me getting up every morning to go my 2 miles, and I actually look forward to it. I've been doing it several months, 6 days a week and am losing weight and feeling better with less aches and pains. This video is as effective and as painless a routine as you'll ever find!
