A "Must Have" Workout DVD, November 14, 2007
This review is from: Leslie Sansone Shortcuts: Upper Body Workout, Lower Body Workout (DVD)
While I have many, many workout DVDS by Leslie Sansone, and others, this is one of my absolute favorites. Each workout takes only about 30 minutes to do and truly works all the muscles in the targeted group. Each move is well explained and demonstrated. Even if you have never done a workout with a DVD before you will be able to follow this one. You will need some kind of hand weights for the upper body workout but even something as simple as 20oz soda bottles filled with water or sand will work in a pinch. Leslie Sansone is a very cheerful and verbal instructor, but she teaches these workouts solo so there isn't any of the inter-group banter that some people find annoying in her other workout DVDS. What I like best about these workouts is that they can be used long term without waning results. When the workout gets too easy you simply add more weight/resistance.

LOVE this workout...Love Leslie in this one best of all, August 27, 2008
This review is from: Leslie Sansone Shortcuts: Upper Body Workout, Lower Body Workout (DVD)
Like the other reviewer, I have many of Leslie Sansone workouts and many other types of workouts on DVD as well. I have stuck with the 2 miles workout for years, while adding Pilates, Yoga, and other strength training by a variety of sources. In this workout, it is just Leslie and she is at her best. She talks to you the entire time, as a coach and sounds like a best friend at the same time. You work all the muscle groups and can work with or without weights and add weights over time as you become more fit. Leslie makes sure you are doing the exercises in a way that is safe and effective. There are good warmups and stretching at the end of each 30 minute exercise routine. You'll want a chair on hand, a floor mat, and you'll probably want to use weights or at least build up to using weights. The time goes by quickly and you'll feel great. I exercise every day and wanted to turn up my metabolism. Working with weights is a wonderful way to accomplish that. Enjoy!

Best for upper body workout., May 15, 2009
This review is from: Leslie Sansone Shortcuts: Upper Body Workout, Lower Body Workout (DVD)
While I must admit I do not USE the lower body workout portion of this tape, I nonetheless like the fact that it is included should I need it sometime. I prefer working my lower body out by walking on a treadmill at various inclines. The UPPER BODY WORKOUT of this tape, however, CANNOT BE BEAT. Over the years I have tried many different tapes to work out my arms. As an over-50 year old the "bat wings" one might develop have to be prevented. Thus, I am so grateful that Leslie Sansone does a lot of arm exercises concentrating on the triceps, the "trouble muscle" as she calls it. I also like the fact that she does not forget about working the back muscles. She is a very personable instructor constantly reassuring her viewers that "if they get tired you can take a break" while encouraging that "if it gets too easy go to a heavier weight." She is positive, upbeat and optimistic. I look forward to doing the upper body exercise portion a good three times a week!
