Beware-Yet Another Repackaged Previously Released DVD,
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Leslie Sansone: Walk Off 10 Pounds (DVD)
Once again Leslie Sansone has reissued another one of her previously released DVD's in new packaging. This is the third or fourth time I have encountered this in the last year. This was originally released as part of the "Target" store series "Walk Your Way Thin". The only difference was the Target DVD came with a pedometer. So some of you may already have this in your collection.
If you do not have this particular program I will tell you that this is one of her fairly plain vanilla "Walk Away the Pounds" exercise programs. It is includes the four "basic" moves: walking in place, side-steps, kicks and knee lifts with some variations such as kick-back, double side step etc. Nothing really new. There were a few new variations on some of these moves. I was disappointed that there was no time clock and no boosted walking. If you have several of her more recent DVD's from the last couple of years you may not need this. If you are like me I have quite a number of her programs because watching the same ones over and over can get monotonous. This would also be a good program for someone new to "Walk Away the Pounds".

Walk Off 10 Pounds one of 6 new releases in 2008,
This review is from: Leslie Sansone: Walk Off 10 Pounds (DVD)
I was so excited to find a new video from my favorite instructor only to get it and realize it was simply repackaged without the pedometor. I wasnt thrilled with the first release now i have two - I wish they would stop doing or at least let us know it is repackaged. It is becoming more and more common and not just with Walk At Home - I have had this happen with other instructors too. So disappointing.

Have an Excuse-Free Day!,
This 3 Mile DVD is apart of her Walk Your Way Slim Series available from Target.com and is well worth the investment! I literally just finished this DVD and am so extremely glad that I purchased this along with 3 others from the 6-Kit Series. In fact, I think I am going to purchase the remaining 2 kits as this makes the 3rd one that I love!
Walk Off 10 Pounds is like I said a 3 Mile DVD done at an Intermediate to Advanced pace. There isn't any boosted walking (jogging) in this workout, but the pace is faster and you do some powerful movements. One of the things that I have noticed with several of her newer releases in 2009 is that she does a move called Power Kicks. These are done at a vigorous intensity and are bwt low and high impact. You barely leave the ground, but you kick fast and high. You will do grapevines, 4 counts walking up and back several times, some with a kick sequence thrown in with them, side steps with taps and heels, ect. The variety is here so it is a little more than the Basic 4. 3 Mile Slim & Sleek still has the newer "moves" but this still gives you easy choreography without the same ol', same ol'. If you have other Kits from this Series or the Burn Body Fat Series, you will notice that much of the music is the same, however not all songs are repeated within 4 kits that I have, not sure about all 6 at this point. You will find a solid cool down of about 2 minutes perhaps a little more and a nice stretch. The set is black but she has those Stability Balls on the set with her and they are colored coordinated to her wardrobe: Yellow, Black, and Charcoal. You will occasionally be able to see outside and there is snow on the ground; fun for me as I was looking in my own backyard with snow. I thought that was cute. I word of caution: in the first Mile there are a couple of cueing flubs. I'm used to walking with her I don't notice them too often anymore. 1 mistake is she said to do knee lifts but does kicks instead. She catches herself at the end of the kicks and apologizes for the mistake. I didn't even notice it myself until she pointed it out. The second mishap is she instructors you to do side steps then goes automatically into a double side step. Again no biggie and she giggles about it. You can't help but smile. Those are the things that keep you on your toes and add a little laughter into your day! Why get upset when you could just smile and go with the flow? Because of the pace more so than the cueing, I would tell beginners to try her 2 Mile DVDs first or to get her Walk Off Even More Weight Kit which offers 2-2 Mile Walks; a Classic and a Faster Paced walk. Those will get you up to the speed and endurance that you will need for her 3+ Mile DVDs. You could go right into her 3 Milers, but it may be too advanced to begin with. This DVD like her recent ones allow you to pick the Chapter you wish. You can choose Mile 1, Mile 2, or Mile 3. You though cannot customize the DVDs and you have to fast forward/rewind to get to the warm up and cool down sections if you did not choose the first or 3rd miles. What's included in this kit? DVD, Purple Pedometer, and a 14 Day Meal Plan. In the DVD Leslie instructs you to eat the meals in the plan that you like! Customize it to fit your needs! She reminds us that we can still eat the foods that we love and lose weight; it's just watching portions and making better choices most of the time. She goes on to say that she doesn't like a lot of "rules" as we know what does or doesn't feel right. What I loved most about this DVD was its Positive Message and overall tone! She tells you to "Have and Excuse-Free Day"! That you have the choice to improve your life! If you are able to get out of bed she says, then you are already healthy. Movement improves your health, mood, physical and spiritual fitness! She also reminds you to forget and let go of the negativity in your life; let go of the negativity that people share. Forgive than, let go, and move on. They don't know what they are doing so no need to be upset or set back by other's negativity. I think an equally moving and important message is that even just losing 5 pounds makes a difference in how you feel. That you don't need to rush yourself and overwhelm yourself with huge weight loss goals, just take it one step a time; 5 pounds at a time. It doesn't matter how long it takes, just make better choices for your health and you will reap the rewards! Absolutely a wonderful walking workout! I have truly become a total fan of the Leslie-Only, non-walk leader Workouts. She's able to give you calm direction and coaching as she puts it. It's true! I feel fabulous not only because of the workout, but because of her positive and motivating words!! This is a DVD to own! Great message, great pace, great advice, warm, caring instructor, and positive well being!

Not for those unfamiliar with Leslie,
This review is from: Leslie Sansone: Walk Off 10 Pounds (DVD)
Ok, I have been using her videos for 3 months now and am buying alot of em so I have variety. This one does have her alone and not with a group. It is also a reissue that Target did on its own. If this is a video you bought but already have go to her website and let her team know. Anyway, the video is good, but not for people new to her style. She does not let you know when she is going into moves as much as she does in the others. So I'd buy older videos first to get used to her style. I do like this one however so it was a good buy for me. If you are curious, I have went down 4 sizes in 3 months with doing her videos everyday.

I didn't know this was a reissued DVD since I didn't ever see it the first time around. I love this one. I like it that it's just her with no others. I like it that she doesn't use any stretchies, hand weights or balls, and there are a few different moves in here that I haven't seen in any of her others. I think it's one of her best! :)

I have one other DVD for Leslie Sansone and really enjoyed it. This one was not as good. The music did not go with the exercises and there is too much repetition from the prior video. I like exercising to Leslie and hope she will come out with a new exercise video.

Bored no More,
This review is from: Leslie Sansone: Walk Off 10 Pounds (DVD)
I've been doing WAP for awhile and have been starting to get bored with the dvds. As I get more fit and lose weight they've started not to be much of a challenge. Plus I have played my dvds over and over... So I was was looking to buy more to add to my collection, some that would have some pep and keep me interested so that I will keep with my exercise regimen. I will say that this video definitely did the job.
This dvd has great new funky get up and move music. I especially love the 2nd mile. All I can say is Whew! Leslie is doing the videos alone which I like. I love her bubbly personality but sometimes she does tend to talk too much when she is with the gang. I do her workouts in the morning when it's quiet and peaceful and want to maintain as much of that before the "house wakes up." So with her being alone I can have a good, focused and calm workout. Minor point, but I liked the way the studio was transformed to more a warm inviting setting. What I've started doing is mixing her videos as she suggest to customize my own walking program. For anyone with a lot of weight to lose like me, WAP is the way to go. Start with another video though like her 3-mile weight loss walk dvd. It will get you started at a nice pace and keep you going to your goals. Thank you Leslie!

walk it off,

I get the leslie sansone kits because once you have a couple of the walk it off dvds there pretty much the same and can get soooo boring. The kits are actually a little different. Anyway, the pedometer is a peice of crap. It didn't really bother me to much though, because i planned on buying a good calorie counter not a pedometer. Anyway my only complaint is that when i got the package it was completely smooshed and destroyed. i know mail can be rough but it didn't look like it got that way through traveling in mail ... it was put in the envelope that way. messy messy!

It's okay. There are some moments of sloppy cuing. The major thing is to beware the mileage claim. The last mile is way slower than the first but is done in less time than the first. Seems sketchy. Also, she goes into a stretch in the last 3 minutes of the walk without making it clear if the 3 miles are done. Surely she's not counting the meager steps in the stretch towards the mileage. By the 2.5 mile point, you will feel more like you're in cool down mode. As an aside, Leslie would fare better if she would go full out for the total mileage and then slow down in a separate cool down walk and stretch.

I wasn't aware that this is a previously issued workout and wouldn't have bought it if I knew that. I found out that by looking at the pictures on the wall of the studio, you can tell what year it was issued. Since the pictures are the same as the ones from "5 Mile Fat Burning Walk, they came out the same year-2008. When the date on the back says 2010, I expect something brand new.
I don't have the older one, so this one is new to me, and pretty decent, but with some awkward calling. The biggest drawback for me is that I play it on my computer and the sound is terribly low. I can hear her instructions but just the faintest whisper of music. Too bad, because it's a nice addition to the "5" Mile and "3 Mile Slim and Sleek Walk." I haven't seen a free pedometer that's worth a hoot anyway, so I don't feel bad that it isn't included. I also don't miss the timer because it's distracting and makes the workout drag. C'mon Leslie, how about a new high-mileage workout with new music at an acceptable volume and some intervals to really burn those calories? We need something better for those bad weather days. |
