5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you Leslie
I am close to 60 years old and have not exercised in years. I was told about Leslie Sansone tapes by my daughter and bought this one since it seemed suited to my needs. Well, I am amazed. I have been using it for 3 weeks and am feeling so much stronger and energized. I would definitely recommend this for seniors.

1.0 out of 5 stars This has to be a rehersal tape! Very amaturish!
This looks like a home video. There are several gaps in the music, the group is never in step, Leslie laughs and makes innane comments continuously. The "Walk Aerobics For People Over Forty" is better and there is not much difference in the workout

5.0 out of 5 stars For you, if you're out-of-shape, a little clumsy and..., October 9, 2004

bored by treadmills.

I'm in my fifties, and have started exercising because I'd let myself get totally out-of-shape. Everything else besides fitness used to take priority. I still don't want to spend big bucks on a treadmill or gym membership. Using this tape, I feel a little like Goldilocks: you know, some videos were too hard, some old people videos didn't do any toning, but this one is JUST RIGHT. Sansone mentions that doing this video is equivalent to a mile and a half walk, calorie-wise. Even better, it only takes 28 minutes including cool down, and includes some mild muscle-building moves as well [lunges and weighted arm motions]. I was actually able to complete the video, even the first time, in my sorry condition, but I did raise a sweat. By halfway through I was wishing I could stop, but it felt SO good afterward.

The simple moves are klutz-proof especially since you have Sansone by herself with no distracting class. And she's such a pro! At exactly the moment I'm thinking "Why am I torturing myself with this exercise nonsense", she's saying "You made such a good choice, deciding to exercise today!" How did she know exactly when I needed to hear that? Her cuing is impeccable and she knows just what errors in form she needs to warn about.

I alternate this video with Winsor Pilates "Endless Fitness for Beginners", more of a straight strenthening workout. After two months this tape is still challenging, but I'm looking forward to the day when it will be my light workout day video and I can use one of Sansone's harder tapes regularly. If I can get into shape with this tape you can too!

Have been using this video for 2 weeks. It is very enjoyable, gentle on the joints and effective. Leslie's presentation is very pleasant and does nothing complicated. So easy to follow.

5.0 out of 5 stars You don't have to be old to do this one!, March 25, 1999

After purchasing many of her tapes, I found they are basic and clear cut, so you can be any age to do this one, especially if you are a bit tired and want to take it a bit easier - you can on this one. Her tapes are not hard -- she uses simple steps -- you cannot fall or hurt yourself - no twisting or turning, etc. You simply walk in place, use some simple arm movements, simple back and forth steps, side steps, etc. She is highly motivating and very down to earth, and I personally feel you can be any age, from a child to a older adult, to do her tapes. Just purchase them and enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for Arthritic people, May 30, 2005
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Leslie Sansone's Walk and Firm for Older Adults [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I like this tape. I have end stage hip arthritis (need a hip replacement), & have degenerative disk disease in my back from yrs of doing extreme sports. I am now also 50# overwgt - gained it over the last few yrs because of the arthritis.

I was afraid to even start exercising, & afraid of a tape that was too fast & I'd hurt myself (like the TV show workouts I've seen)...
But I was able to get started with this, & felt invigorated after doing it, not worn out or in pain.

Leslie is kind, understanding & encouraging on the tape, this is what I needed. So to me, watching the same tape over & over, & hearing the encouragement, is good, not repetitious.

She also continually reminds & shows you how to do the exercises properly so you don't hurt yourself.

The 30 minute workout is walking, marching, some sidesteps, easy lunges (you can make them as hard as you want tho), & stretching.
This is my first exercise tape.

Good luck to you all!

I STARTED WALK THE WALK 1 MILE VIDEO THE LAST OF JANUARY AND HAVE NEVER MISSED A DAY SINCE. I AM 70 YEARS OLD AND I FEEL GREAT ESPECIALLY AFTER MY DAILY MILE WALK TO THE VIDEO.

I LIVE IN APT ON 15TH FLOOR AND DO THE VIDEO ON MY PATIO AND LOOK OUT OVER SAN DIEGO AND IT IS REALLY GREAT.

I RECOMMEND IT. EDITH

5.0 out of 5 stars LESLIE GIVES ME HOPE THAT I WILL DO THE WHOLE THING ONE DAY, August 13, 2004

This review is from: Leslie Sansone's Walk and Firm for Older Adults [VHS] (VHS Tape)
THIS IS A STEP AWAY FROM GREG SMITHEY'S EASY STRETCH. IN FACT IT IS A STEP ABOVE OR TWO. BUT? I HAVE ALMOST MADE THE WHOLE THING NOW. AND? I'M IN LOVE WITH LESLIE. I FIND HER MOST BENEFICIAL AND HELPFUL. I HAVE BOUGHT OTHER TAPES OF HERS INCLUDING WALK THE WALK WITH THE CHRISTIAN MUSIC IN THE BACKGROUND. THIS TAPE THOUGH TAKES YOU THROUGH A MILE AND A HALF OF AEROBICS AND WEIGHTS. WALK THE WALK ONLY LASTS 20 MINS. (WHILE THIS ONE THIRTY,) AND HAS NO WEIGHTS. EQUALLY GOOD!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Workout for Over Fifty, March 22, 2011
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Leslie Sansone's Walk and Firm for Older Adults [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This is an excellent workout if you are over fifty or have challenges such as joint problems. I have knee and hip pain with some workouts, but with this one, I did just fine, and the level was high enough to make me sweat. I also liked the weights added to the cardio. My age is 56 and I had no problem doing the workout.
