Like each season of NYPD Blue, season 9 gets a five star rating; they're all that good. I'd say the highlight of this season would have to be the episodes concerning Mrs. Hornby, who is being swindled by her financial manager, who is also her nephew, or some relative. There's a nice closing scene in which Andy and Mrs. Hornby are strolling along; they pass an antique shop with a display of furniture that Mrs. Hornby--an antique herself--remembers buying new. They buy a sack of nuts from a street cart vendor; I remember those from Steely Dan's album, Pretzel Logic, and from when I was a kid, in Chicago...Hot Dogs...Tamales, etc. And as the scene closes, a busker--accompanied by his little dog--plays a sweet tune on his saxophone...blends right in with the music that's been playing in the background....just a brief riff, but exactly the right notes at just the right time...fits like it was written for this exact spot, which of course, it was...

Continues to be one of the greatest police dramas of all time. I am very glad the other seasons beyond the first four or five finally were made available.

Thank God for Amazon Prime. NYPD Blue has always been our favorite show. Our son had heard about it for years. We started making a family night and watching 1-2 episodes a night. However there were only 4 Seasons available on DVD. I was ripped off trying to buy whole series on ebay. Thank you Amazon for having all the episodes and giving us a family memory to last a lifetime. That's my story, and let me say the shows look awesome in HD and it is even better the second time around.

We can now sign up for alerts when Season 5, 6 and 9 are released. Does that mean there is light at the end of the tunnel for avid NYPD Blue fans like me? Is there ANYTHING we can do to make it happen?? This is the ultimate TV series and I fervently hope seasons 5-10 will soon be released.

Love this show. Love how they pushed the boundaries of prime time tv with topics most shows avoided. I love that the main character wasn't a typical celebrity name with a typical Hollywood look. You can really see Dennis Franz as a real detective in real life. The writing of this show is still the best and I have yet to find another prime time drama come close even after all the years that Nypd Blue has been off the air. I loved getting lost in this show every week and I loved watching the entire series again on Amazon prime. I may even watch it again!

I just love this show. Dennis Franz is why I watch it. I find all the others are good. But from the begining Dennis Franz has been the star. Even though it took the Producers 3 or 4 years to figure it out. I really do not see why more TV shows today can't have an everyman like Franz. But I guess todays audience does not want it. But I sure do. Love this show. I did not get a chance to see it when it was firs out. You know it still holds up. The only thing that don't are the phones and that is minor.

Every season is better than the last. They don't make them like this anymore. Classic. Andy is a modern day Archie Bunker with modern day edge having to deal with the life as a NY police detective. I don't know which is harder for him, the battle within himself or the battle on the mean streets of New York City. Hats off either way. I learn something about people, character and life choices every time I watch an episode.

Excellent season. It was nice that Detective Sorenson was found and then given a proper police burial with honors. Detective Sorenson missing definitely disturbed detective Sipowics at the beginning of this season. The portrayal of detective Sorenson obviously appearing to be an outsider due to how the squad was reeling from the loss of detective Simone did not initially allow Sorenson to fit in too well and be a part of the squad. Detective Sipowics confirmed this by admitting that he had never visited his partners apartment until he helped him out. Things seemed to finally come in place for detective Sipowics on how God was truly watching over him despite many of his personal challenges. After losing his first son, he helped bring Theo into the world with his 2nd. wife, ADA Silvia Costas who was also lost from Sipowics life after she was gunned down by accident at a court house. After that heavy loss, det. Sipowics tries to build a relationship again by agreeing to re-marry his first wife Katie which fell through. Then finds love again with fellow detective Connie McDowell. And eventually builds perhaps the type of family he has always wanted. I personally think Season 9 officially places him towards an area in which he's officially transformed and had re-arrived after all his struggles when he's promoted to detective 1st. grade and breaks in another partner, newly promoted detective John Clark Jr. after losing detective Sorenson.
