5.0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful
As a true beginner looking to learn more about cigars, I found this book to be extremely helpful. The book's clear language and easy to follow structure made it very informative. I had little knowledge on the subject of cigars prior to reading it. However after finishing it I feel confident enough to be able to purchase and properly enjoy a good quality cigar.

Unless you are an absolute beginner, this book has nothing to teach you. If you are a beginner, there is more and better information on the internet. It is really a pamphlet rather than a book, despite the $9.97 price tag even for the Kindle version. Typical is the "chapter" on the history of cigars, which is a whole five (short) paragraphs long.

The pamphlet is put out by [...]. They evidently value cash over editing, because there are many grammatical errors. My favorite is a self-promotion blurb that reads, "[...] is a new site coming soon with practical information about the fun, exciting, ridicules (sic), and interesting things you can do with a little cash." "Ridicules" indeed.

1.0 out of 5 stars I feel cheated., October 11, 2011
I knew very little about cigars before reading this book, but knew I liked the taste of a good cigar. Unfortunately this "book" hasn't taught me much at all, and I feel that the 45 minutes I spent reading it (all of it!) could of been better spent smoking a bad cigar.

This review is from: 27 Lessons To Help You Become A Cigar Expert: The Guide To Learning What You Need To Know About Cigar Smoking Etiquette, Lighting, Cutting, Buying, Spotting Fake Cubans, And Much More (Paperback)
You can read this book in about an hour. It touches on most of the basics (how to cut and light a cigar, general overview on cigar sizes and shapes). The information on even basic topics (e.g., how to cut a cigar) is not complete, but just provides an overview.

If you're brand new to cigars and only want to get a feel for the subject, this is a good book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice Introduction, May 27, 2010

As the previous reviewers have said, this is a great resource for the beginner cigar smoker. At 56 pages, there are going to be some topics you wish were fleshed out in more detail for sure. As a primer to the subject though, there is a lot more here than its size would lead you to think. The information on judging the quality of a single, how to judge a cigar based on its ash, how to properly light and smoke a cigar, and how to spot fake Cubans are all straight to the point and things that everyone ready to give cigars a shot should know.

4.0 out of 5 stars Short and Sweet, May 20, 2010
This review is from: 27 Lessons To Help You Become A Cigar Expert: The Guide To Learning What You Need To Know About Cigar Smoking Etiquette, Lighting, Cutting, Buying, Spotting Fake Cubans, And Much More (Paperback)
I think this is a great help tool for people looking to understand more about cigar smoking. I am not an expert, but I know a fair amount about cigars and I still learned some new things. The chapters about ashing and what you can tell from cigar ash were great, especially since my pet peeve is people who ash cigars like cigarettes! Informative but not too wordy, and plenty of resources for learning more and where to buy included. A little short on detail, but its a good overview--I certainly recommend it.

Overall I think this is a good resource for beginners looking to learn about cigar smoking. The book is information rich, easy to read, and wastes no time covering the important topics in a short amount of time. With that said, I do wish some of the topics were discussed in greater detail with maybe some pictures showing the different types of cigars, how to properly cut them, etc. I'd recommend this book if you are looking for a quick crash course on the subject.
