About the Author
Deb Ajango was hired as the director of the University of Alaska Anchorage's Outdoor Education department roughly one month prior to a tragic, college-led mountaineering accident that occurred in 1997. As a result, she was integral in the review and rewrite of the program's risk management plan and system. Since that time, Ms. Ajango has been asked to provide risk management consultation and program reviews (in the areas of outdoor education, recreation, and crisis response) throughout the United States.
Deb has an extensive background working as a practitioner and administrator in the profession and is currently a member of the Association for Experiential Education's Accreditation Council. She has nearly 2000 field days of experience, including trips throughout Alaska, northern Canada, the continental United State, Mexico, Ecuador, Chile, Argentina, Tanzania, Kenya, Australia and New Zealand.
