5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Faith Lessons, October 16, 2000
By

This review is from: Faith Lessons on the Life and Ministry of the Messiah (Church Vol. 3) Participant's Guide (Paperback)
The participant's guide is designed to be used in tandem with the video;however, it is so comprehensive that you learn a great deal of background just from going through the lessons. It was one of the best workbooks I have ever used to gain a perspective on what life was like in Jesus's time and how actual archeological findings link the truth Jesus portrayed 2,000 years ago and how we can apply this today. Read it and increase your faith. Give it to others.

5.0 out of 5 stars Understanding Obscure Things, April 3, 2007
Ray Vanderlaan is one of those rare individuals who not only knows a great deal more about ancient history than most of us, he is gifted with the ability to explain it, make it come alive, and to apply it to life experiences in a way that can inspire us. He takes archaeological and written sources and explains nuances that are seldom mentioned by seminary-trained teachers.

I have used some of his older taped lessons in Sunday School classes and for Youth Groups and even inspired several folks to go on one of his tours to Israel.

Not only does Vanderlaan make history come alive, he nearly always instills in me a desire to study, learn and to know more on my own. He is an excellent speaker, scholar and spokesman.

I can't recommend his series more highly!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Amazing teacher, brings the Bible to life, May 1, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ray Vander Laan is an amazing teacher; using a very simple, down-to-earth approach, he is able to explain the context, culture, and history behind biblical passages you only thought you understood before. He makes things so clear. I have "aha" moments every time I watch one of his DVD lessons. I recommend all of them. We do them as a family on Sunday evenings.
