Product Description

Hollywood made him a star. She makes him want to be a better man.

A Come Rain or Come Shine Story

Charlotte Jeeves, “Charlie” to anyone not pulling her over or collecting her taxes, is the only one in town who’s not excited about her new neighbor, TV actor Jeeves Allencaster. It’s not “cute” how they share a name, and so not charming that he steals her muffin before they’ve even met. The last thing she wants is some slick Hollywood type turning her safe, small-town haven into a circus.

If the locals have their way, though, she and Jeeves will be dating by…well, it depends on who you ask—and how much they’ve invested in the betting pool.

Jeeves hates Hollwood. Mostly he just hates the way it’s changed him. Port Grable is the total opposite of LaLa Land—the perfect place to rediscover himself. His plan didn’t include hooking up with the bitter—yet undeniably lush—girl next door. She’s not his type, yet he can’t get her off his mind.

Trouble is, to thaw the ice around her heart, he’ll have to show her the real man behind the Hollywood charade. If he still exists…

4.0 out of 5 stars If you're in the mood for a sweet, zany romance, Let Me Call You Sweetheart is the story for you!, June 22, 2011
This review is from: Let Me Call You Sweetheart (Kindle Edition)
Charlotte "Charlie" Jeeves loves everything about her small, almost retro town, Port Grable. Everything except its newest resident. TV actor Jeeves Allencaster has taken up residence in Port Grable and Charlie is sure he'll bring the taint of Hollywood to the town that has been her comfort and refuge for the past ten years. The most annoying thing about Jeeves isn't the fact that they share a name; it's that he - not to mention everyone else in the town - can't seem to get it through their heads that Charlie does not like him and does not want to date him. The townsfolk are even placing bets on when the two of them will be going out! Charlie's sure there's no chance of a girl like her going out with an actor like Jeeves. Except the damnable man has the strangest way of getting under her skin...

Small town Oregon goes slightly madcap in the spirited Let Me Call You Sweetheart. Gwen Hayes has delivered a romantic comedy that's more than a little strange, but also quite charming. Charlie and Jeeves dance around each other with quite a bit of two-steps-forward-one-step-back, which made me frown once or twice, but I don't think it actually dragged the story down. Charlie's a likeable heroine, one whose past has a more serious, tragic incident in it than the tone of the novel lets on. Jeeves, meanwhile, is more than a bit weird and slightly over the top, which does work with the energy of Let Me Call You Sweetheart. An odd poodle rounds out the main players, and Medusa threatens to steal the show at times.

Let Me Call You Sweetheart is quite different from my normal reading material, but the change of pace Ms. Hayes provides was welcome. If you're in the mood for a sweet, zany romance, Let Me Call You Sweetheart is the story for you!

4.0 out of 5 stars I liked it., June 4, 2011
This review is from: Let Me Call You Sweetheart (Kindle Edition)
I really liked this book, but as always with Hayes, it was a very short read. I didn't mind, but maybe it would bother some people.

The romance was good, and I really liked the characters.

I wouldn't give it 5 stars, but it deserve 4 1/2.

This book, even if very short, is well-worth its price.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sweet Fun Story!, December 15, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Let Me Call You Sweetheart (Kindle Edition)
I had so much fun reading this story. It was so funny at times that I actually laughed out loud, which in turn caused those around me to look at me funny and slowly back away, but it was worth it.

This book was truly wonderful. Romantic and funny and just real. The characters felt real and were flawed and I loved that about them.

Hayes is a master at drawing you into her stories and making you care about the characters.

I have loved every single book I have read from her and look forward to reading more in the future.

More About the Author

Gwen Hayes (that's me) lives in the Pacific Northwest with her real life hero and a pack of wild beasts (two of whom she gave birth to). She is a reader, writer, and lover of pop culture (which, other than yogurt, is the only culture she gets). She would say she loves to garden, cook gourmet meals, and hike in the rainforest...but that would be lying. Instead, she likes watching bad movies (don't call me Shirley) and eating gourmet foods (cheetos=yum). She does like to force her family out to go geocaching a few times a year because that fulfills her secret inner geek while also getting fresh air.

Gwen's first Paranormal Young Adult novel, FALLING UNDER, will be published by Penguin Books in the Spring/Summer of 2011. She is represented by Jessica Sinsheimer of the Sarah Jane Freymann Agency.
