Lyrics worth listening to,
By Mike Block (Ottawa, ON Canada) - See all my reviews

Amongst all the cheap, two-cent lyrics of the pop industry, it's nice to listen to an album with lyrics that are honest, harmonies that are clean and a memorable sweet voice. Natalie seems like a real person in her music. She's definitely given a big part of herself for this debut album. I wish her the best of luck and hope she sees the success she deserves!

WOW! Real Music From A Real Person,

This woman's music has touched me so profoundly. First of all I have to disagree wholeheartedly with the listener who said the production and songwriting was "early 90's and weak". I think that the team of Brown/Rwakaara stands heads above the rest of todays Urban/Contemporary R&B/Pop. The production is nearly flawless- just hear how perfectly the vocals fit the backing tracks and the vocal expression itself was wonderfully directed! The vocals and the lyrical content on this CD are the focal point (AND they SHOULD be!)- the producer had the brains to know that and did not muddy them up with the weird sounds and effects that too many of today's producers slather all over the vocals! Way to go! I think the songs have a timeless, classic appeal that will live on FAR after most of "today's" music and current sounds are forgotten and buried. It is so nice for a change, to hear some positive messages and well crafted lyric writing. No disrespect to today's Pop/R&B artists, but I am sick of hearing about women putting men down, and women going on and on about posessing material things etc.! I have to say that the lyrical content was very touching and remarkable to me. VERY REAL! I like how Natalie writes about topics that have been before- but with a totally different twist- like in 'Confused' 'Wind at My Back' and 'Run Away'. I also can really sense the 'real', 'personal' Natalie in all she writes... like she is putting her heart out on the line for all to read. I love this CD and so does my 15 year old daughter- so as far as how the songs speak to people of different ages- well I am 42- I love it and can really get a lot from it. It is fun, danceable and uplifting- while at the same time the songs can really probe you in places of the heart that may have been left untouched for a while- and cause you to think about your life and purpose. I say WAY TO GO to Natalie and her producer- they should stick together because they defenitly have something special as far as producing wonderful music goes!!!! Don't change a THING! WOW!

by how professional this artist sounds. She should be on the radio. This is better than most of the stuff even on major labels. Great songs and vocals. I'll buy it in a minute and keep my eye on Natalie Brown. She's going to be big..I said it right here!!!!

Wow! I listen to a lot of music and I have friends in the music business too. This is by far the best independent stuff I've heard so far. It sounds so professional and the singer is like a major recording artist. I can't believe she is not huge already. That song "You Make Me Feel" is very smooth and I like how it flows. The sounds of the keyboards are very well selected and they match the singer nicely. Natalie looks good too! Great job, and I'll be a fan for life.

You must be crazy if you don't like this!!,

There are only two reasons not to like this artist. 1) This is not the type of music (style) you listen to, so you wouldn't have a good understanding of it, or 2) You have a hidden agenda (jealousy, "hatin'", sabotage, etc.). I find this music to be outstanding within it's genre. I listened to the samples and read the bio without any preconcieved ideas or expectations. This gave me a clearer picture of Natalie and a better understanding of the artist and her music. Bravo, Natalie Brown. Great voice and catchy melodies and choruses. I hope to hear more of her in the future. I can't wait for my CD. Thanks.

I love this music. I especially like the way you fashioned the song "You Make Me Feel". It has very refreshing lyrics and the melody and music are very soothing. I also let my boyfriend listen to it and he liked it very much(he doesn't usually like ballads). I sampled some of the other songs and found them all excellent. I highly recommend this if you like anything in the R&B/Soul/Pop genres.

This CD is so well done that I am surprised Natalie is an independent artist. I heard one of her songs (You're so Good to me)on the radio and then came on-line to see who she was, thinking she was on Universal records or something like that. The background vocals are very lush and her lead vocal in general is very pleasing to the ear. The music is a perfect complement to her vocals and the melody is marvelously structured. Being an artist myself, I can appreciate a well done project when I hear it.

Absolutely marvelous,

Its been a rare experience that there is a cd that I listen to all the way though time and time again. This is one of them. Anywhere I go Nat's music travels with me. Excellent production, great lyrics, and a passion for the work comes through in every track. Not to mention a voice that won't stop. Looking forward to the next cd with great anticipation.

I was offered and invitation by a friend to check out a site for Natalie Brown and these days when someone says a vocalist is amazing I pretty much don't believe them. When my friend told me about this Independent R&B artist I kinda put it off at first because I am so sick of hearing the same bland pseudo-R&B over and over again on the radio. I am sorry I put it off for so long! I listened to some clips from Miss. Brown and I was hypnotized. I heard the song "In My Dreams" and literally I have not been moved by a voice in a LONG LONG time, but that song had me hooked! Her voice is really beautiful, but it is also a sweet, soulful kind of voice that has so much emotion and feeling that you feel like you know her when she sings. It's like every word is just for you and the honesty blew me away. I picked up a copy of the album and every song is great, plus SHE WROTE the songs. I can't believe I haven't heard of her before and that this album is from 2000. I am really looking forward to Miss. Brown's new album and more of the sweet soul that today's music scene is missing so bad. If you are sick of played out beats, bland voices with no soul and lyrics that mean nothing... then you MUST buy this album and let the healing and sweetness take over! I am HOOKED by that voice! I also love her hair, just had to mention that! Thank god SHE IS NOT another copycat blonde haired wanna be pseudo-R&B singer clone. Natalie Brown IS FO SHO the real deal: original, sweet and funkay! SWEET SOUL IS BACK!
