5.0 out of 5 stars Why were they not all over the charts?, May 19, 2005

The Call is a band that seemed to have it all together except marketing. They worked with members of U2 and Robbie Robertson, a song of thiers was used in the vampire movie The Lost Boys. If you are going to buy one album of theirs (I have them all) I would recommend this one. Solid musicanship and deep lyrics make The Call one of the best bands of the 80s. They weren't trendy, so they still sound good today. Give it a try!

5.0 out of 5 stars Under-rated!, October 8, 2007

This review is from: Let the Day Begin (Audio CD)
This is one of the best groups from the 80's. Not one bad song on this album. Some of the most moving, varied songs and beautifully written lyrics... the other reviewer is correct to say - if this group was marketed well, they would a top hit group. Talent and looks, what more can you want in a rock band? The album can be had for very little these days. Pick it up and give yourself a treat. You will be floored. Way under-rated, I say.

5.0 out of 5 stars R.I.P. Michael Been, August 19, 2010
By

This review is from: Let the Day Begin (Audio CD)
Leader/vocalist/guitarist of The Call, father of Robert Been (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club) as well as the sound engineer for BRMC, Michael Been has passed away at the age of 60. No official cause of death has been announced and all the information we've gotten thus far has been from foreign news sites translated. Here's what we know about this very sad event:

Michael Been, sound engineer and father of bassist Robert Been of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, was unwell Thursday in the backstage area of Pukkelpop. "The first aid was immediately administered by the workers of the Flemish Cross and the doctors present backstage." says festival organizer Chokri Mahassine. "The Medical Emergency Team was immediately on the spot." He was rushed to the Salvator Hasselt hospital where he later died.

Our hearts go out to our close friend Robert, his family & the band.

RIP Michael Been.
