Not my number one, but it's up there!, June 8, 2009
Rancid's new album Let The Dominoes Fall cannot be fully appreciated without the expanded acoustic disc. Growing up as a Rancid fan, they have never disappointed. I can always trust them to put out something good. For those who are looking for Rancid to sound like they did in '95 or earlier, keep moving on. Rancid is an ever growing bottomless pit of creativity. And as a fan, I've grown with them. While I admit, they should've been writing this stuff when Indestructible came out, obviously Tim needed that album to vent about Brodi. While holding true to their beliefs, they've managed to produce a patriotic album full of hope and loss and grief. "Civilian ways" is about Tim's brother coming home from Iraq. There's a love song for the forgotten "New Orleans", (which I highly recommend listening to the acoustic version. It does the song more justice giving a feel of a dark haunted love for the city). And one of my favorites is "Lulu" which is the family left behind. Rancid is back with the more poetic lyrics that I love so much. We can welcome back the likes of Vic Ruggiero who has graced past Rancid albums, as well as Matt Hensley of Flogging Molly (on the acoustic version).

Not Your Sandista,,,please, June 17, 2009
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Rancid fan. They have written punk lyrics and songs that are both sensitive and hard as nails at the same time. They have created some of the most lasting punk music that exists in my collection. I have been waiting for a new album for a long time.I love Indestructible, even though it is different from their previous work. Change is good. You don't want a band that always sounds the same, you want unpredictability and fresh ideas. Let the Dominos Fall, however, didn't show me that they really worked on the album. The lyrics are a bit simple compared to all of their previous work and the music leaves a lot to be desired. They are punks to the core!! I just don't get the feeling that they worked as hard on the newest as they have before. Others have compared them to the Clash, I never have, but I hope this isn't their Sandista. See ya in the pit

Good punk, November 4, 2009
Rancid keep it real with lyrics from the heart. What more could you ask for? It is not as good "And Out Come the Wolves" or "Let's Go!", but they are music makers, and sometimes you have to, as they say, "let the dominoes fall". Meaning, you have to throw it out there even if it isn't perfect. Everybody that rates this album low wants them to top "AOCTW" and, maybe it will happen, but I certainly don't want them to stop making music and sharing with me, the listener, what is going on in their lives just because they aren't making something superior to their best albums. You have to start somewhere and you can't always make a classic, but that doesn't mean you stop doing what you love. This album is good punk. And who knows? Maybe the stuff they come up with next will completely blow, maybe it will be a steady improvement, or maybe it will completely blow our minds. Who cares? You have to stay truthful and passionate and share what's on your mind no matter what, and as long as a band does that I'm willing to listen. And I'm willing to listen to this album.
