4.0 out of 5 stars A straight-up review for anyone curious about Senses Fail....
You know, I was scrolling through the reviews of a few bands and I came across the Let Enfold You reviews page. I got to the point where I was like, "No one's gonna know what the hell they sound like, because it's emo bashers and brainwashed emo-fans who can't the difference between their 'favorite' bands." 3.0 out of 5 stars An alright effort from EP
First off, whoever says their lyrics are good are easily impressed. Now first off, i'm not one to complain about bad lyrics, but this CD has just some of the most terrible lyrics i've ever heard. Espically Tracks 4, 8, and 9. I usually just skip these songs. So what you can expect for in this cd, is maybe 5 decent songs with decent lyrics. They don't scream a lot...

I got to the point where I was like, "No one's gonna know what the hell they sound like, because it's emo bashers and brainwashed emo-fans who can't the difference between their 'favorite' bands." So here we go, an unbiased straight up review from a fan of Cartel, The Showdown, Underoath, 311 and DMB :

Let It Enfold You is an interesting record, especially for the screamo genre. They only have one guitarist which is really cool, because this album is REALLY good in the guitar aspect, start to finish. Musically this album is fantastic, with pretty solid basslines and some nice, fast drums. Lyrically the album exceeded my expectations, especially on Buried In A Lie. Another reviewer said that they drop the F-Bomb quite frequently, which is an inaccurate thing to say, especially if you have two things to say about a cd, both being negative.

The only complaint I have about LIEY is that after awhile the songs sort of mesh together and it's hard to differencate between them. Standout tracks include Buried In A Lie, NJ Falls Into The Atlantic, Choke On This and Martini Kiss.

For fans of the screamo genre plus some more advanced guitar lines, definately check out Senses Fail, especially fans of Underoath, Saves The Day, and maybe Silverstein.

4.0 out of 5 stars Can't get it out of my head, January 30, 2006
This review is from: Let It Enfold You (Audio CD)
(Note: this review is for the "special edition" of this album, which includes a few extra songs and a bouns DVD. Get the special edition if you can because their cover of Suicidal Tendencies' "Institutionalized" is well worth it.)

This CD caught me by surprise. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it sure wasn't metal. The twin Gibson attack, frenetic drumming and thrashy bass are all very tight. If you put a different lead singer in, you'd end up with...well, a metal band. But their singer, "Buddy", is very '80s influenced. He sounds like so many of the lead-singers of punk bands I've heard. But he can also do nu-metal-type screams, grunts & growls. I don't see how he can thrash his voice like this & still manage to sound coherent when he's actually singing, but the overall effect is killer.

And speaking of killer...those lyrics! Digging up your ex-girlfriend's grave and performing an autopsy? Love me with a chainsaw? You love my bloody kiss? Cannibal Corpse it ain't, thank God, but the lyrics depict a very unbalanced individual at the helm of Senses Fail. The overall effect is blood, flesh-wounds, alcohol poisoning, pyromania, and tribal noise.

The songs on this CD stick in your brain, for better or worse. Overall verdict: I Like It! It ain't the absolute greatest album I've heard, but it's a very solid 4 stars in my book. These guys are young, and as good as this CD is, I've got a feeling their best work is ahead of them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Senses Fail "Let It Enfold You", October 23, 2004

This review is from: Let It Enfold You (Audio CD)
"Tie Her Down" (9/10)
"Lady In A Blue Dress" (10/10)
"You're Cute When You Scream" (8/10)
"Buried A Lie" (10/10)
"Bite To Break Skin" (9/10)
"Rum Is For Drinking, Not Burning" (9/10)
"Slow Dance" (8/10)
"Choke On This" (7/10)
"NJ Falls Into The Atlantic" (6/10)
"Let It Enfold You" (7/10)
"Irony Of Dying On Your Birthday" (7/10)
"Angela Baker And My Obsession With Fire" (9/10)
"Martini Kiss" (7/10)

Senses Fail's debut full-length is a solid effort. The band seems to sink further away from screaming and more into pop-punk emo but it's not necesarrely a bad thing. Standout tracks include "Lady In A Blue Dress," "Buried A Lie," and "Angela Baker and My Obsession With Fire."

Overall rating: 8.1 out of 10.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Let It Enfold You" best emo/screamo album of '05, May 4, 2005
This review is from: Let It Enfold You (Audio CD)
After making one of the best ep's i've ever heard senses fail tops it with LEt it Enfold You. this cd is outstanding from Tie Her Down thru Martini Kiss. Their music is just mixed so well the screaming and guitar riffs will just blow you away. I love every song, its the first cd since dookie where i can listen to the album every day and not get tired of it and there is not one song i dont like. Standout tracks are definetly, Youre Cute When You Scream, Bite to Break Skin, Rum is FOr Drinking, Choke On THis, Irony of dying on YOur Birthday and MArtini Kiss.
These are just in my opinion the standout tracks although every other is amazing and different from any other band. I think most teenagers can relate to Buddy's lyrics and he does a damn good job writing songs and the guitar and drums all give the songs good energy. So put down your Enema of the State and go out and buy LEt it Enfold You AND From the DEpths of Dreams.

5.0 out of 5 stars great album, September 28, 2004
This review is from: Let It Enfold You (Audio CD)
Anyone who enjoys punk/emo/(whatever you want classify it as) should definately go pick up this CD. If you liked From the Depths of Dreams you will appericate this album even more. This album stops the trend of second releases not being as good as the first (TBS,the Used,Co.&Ca)<==(these bands are still great, however their 2nd albums are just not as awesome).Anyway, the only average songs on this CD are 8-12, the other eight are very good. While this album isn't perfect it comes pretty close.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, August 29, 2005
By
This review is from: Let It Enfold You (Audio CD)
First off, its impossible to compare this band to such bands as Alice in Chains or Pearl Jam. Not because they have no talent, but because THEY AREN'T EVEN THE SAME GENRE. Do yourself a favor or and don't listen to aging dinosaurs about what to listen to. Unless you feel like listening to dusty cd's from the beginning of the 90's then forget the previous reviews. They are a 5 becuase they broke different ground in a different area of music. Senses fail is on of the catchiest Screamo bands you will encounter. Its hard to call them Screamo becuase they don't even whine, they have a angry edge that is prefect if you bombed on a date or got cheated on. They are not 'all about killing loved ones", but to tell you the truth, kids under 13 shouldn't be anywhere near this cd. The lyrics are not sunny and cheerful, but to tell you the truth you could probably only count on one hand the number of curses on the CD. Their lyrics are actually original and you'll find yourself smiling at how poetic they are. They actually require firing synapses unlike that 90's grunge stuff. So this CD gets a 5 in Indie Punk catergory becuase come on now... this is 2005.

5.0 out of 5 stars So beautiful..., May 24, 2005
This review is from: Let It Enfold You (Audio CD)
I don't know what that weirdo below me was talking about, this is NOT christian rock. If you want that, take a gander at Dead Poetic or something.

Now that that's straightened out, here's the review.

This CD is a great listen. It is so catchy that I can listen to it a lot of times and not get sick of it. I will admit that "Tie Her Down" was a little sick, but usually I can't even hear half of the lyrics, so it's basically all good. I don't really care much for the "emo" schtick, so I'll just say this is good "dark punk" in the same realm as My Chemical Romance, but a little more appealing to a larger scope of people. Like people who listen to punk, or people who listen to Slipknot stuff. I think you could even say that they made a new genre of music called "Slipknot-182 Plan Glory Lamb Maiden" or something like that. But one thing about Senses Fail is that they can actually play their instruments, especially the drummer (sorry I'm not a stalker so I don't know his name). The drumming is amazing and I look up to the drummer because he is so fast and unique. So if you like music that is varied you should really check out Senses Fail. And if you like this CD, check out the EP. It's almost as good.

UPDATE!!!: I saw Senses Fail on the Warped Tour and they were AMAZING! The crowd was so into the music and they really did rock live, as opposed to what some jerk said about them sucking live. Plus, they had a signing after their show and they were all awesome guys. So therefore they are the best band in the world.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jersey Boys Rock The Joint, April 9, 2005

This review is from: Let It Enfold You (Audio CD)
In my opinion Let It Enfold you is one of the most phenomenal albums. Drive-Thru Records have found an absolute gem. It's hard to believe how young these guys are and how they rock as hard as they do. Coming in at the age of 35, I'm probably one of their older fans. I found out about Senses Fail from Amazon recommended and I'm sure glad I did. I can't get enough of this group. This youthful group has mounds full of potential. This will be one CD that I'll have in heavy rotation for a long time. If you love Finch, you'll definitely catch on to Senses Fail.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best band out there., March 10, 2005
This review is from: Let It Enfold You (Audio CD)
Their songs are just too great. The cd is awesome. But the dvd's lame. I guess that they've put a dvd with their cd because everyone hd their songs like months before it got out because of the problems with drive thru and vagrant.. anyway... the dvd is not important... this is one the best cd out in these last years
