cant believe I found it!,
This review is from: Let It Flow (Audio CD)
After many years of being without this one in my collection, Ive enjoyed it once again! This one is Elvin in his finest form. "Cant go back" is my personal favorite. "I cant hold myself in line" is an old Hank Williams classic.Every song on this CD is great I highly recommed it.

I bought this when it first came out on vinyl and have gone through 3 copies. I then bought a Japanese pressing on CD for about $10 Australian and it's still a fave album. But, US$70 !!!!, that's riduculous. If you can find it at a reasonable price, just get it and enjoy. Elvin's piano player Phil Aaberg is a master; as good as Chuck Leavell and Gene Taylor. This is crammed packed full of great tunes and is one of the best party albums of all time. For some enterprising record company it would be a good investment to get the license for this and his next album Juke Joint Jump and issue as a twofer.

This is Elvin's masterpiece. It's a shame it's out of print.

An essential 8-track for road trips in the early 70's,

I really missed this one after my wife sold all my old 8-tracks to a neighbor for a dime apiece back in 1986 because it was a standard for the road camping and fishing. I had some more Elvin Bishop, but this was the best album. Travelin shoes, fishing, ground hog, and really everything on the album was really good stuff. Finding this again, can't pass it up because some of this music is extremely well done besides being fun.

...how good this album is. One of my favorites from the 70's,
I hadn't listened to it in decades. So why is it so hard to find some of the truly great albums from this (or, I guess, any) era at fair prices? I understand that falling out of print happens but $70 plus for available copies is simply wrong. Fortunately this and other classics can be found on iTunes for a reasonable prices.

This good time, upbeat, southern rock ablum brings the best of those early '70's Capricorn session players together in Elvin's best record ever, IMO. with guests like Toy Caldwell, Charlie Daniels, Steve Miller, and Richard Betts, there is no gamble here. n You have to like this album just for the sense of fun and light-hearted good times. Let It Flow is exactly what you do with album. Going Fishing, Stealin Watermelons, Travelin shoes, Bourbon Street........ I just never get tired of this album.

one of the classics,

this album was one of the classics during my Southern Rock period - for Travelin Shoes alone (this wouldn't be allowed in today's PC environment - it's a joke, man!!!), this is worth having - it also was some of my first taste of country rock (cover of Hank Sr's Hey Good Lookin & Merle's Can't Hold Myself In Line)
All in all, I love this album (also check out Juke Joint Jump) |
