5.0 out of 5 stars Clair Marlo: Let it go., January 22, 2002

Is Clair Marlo an angel who decended to earth? she certainly sings like one, Clair also plays keyboards too on this recording. Multi Grammy award nominee Bill Schnee performed the extraordinary feat of mixing all 56 inputs to the 2 track master in real time. Also playing on this stunning release from the standard setting audiophile label Sheffield Lab are Jeff Pocaro(+ dad Joe on percussion), Abe Laboriel, Steely Dan side man Dean Parks, Phil Collins Bass player & session legend Leland Sklar, percusionist Luis Conte, guitarist Grant Geisman + fellow Sheffield Lab artist, pianist Pat Coil & Sheffield co-founder & pianist Lincoln Mayorga. This is a most beautiful collection of songs with two instrumantals. A true joy to listen to, one of the very best of's in any collection and on a properly set up audio system you feel as if Clair & co are right there singing just for you in your own room. As with all Sheffield Lab releases this was recorded with custom Sheffield electronics. Highly recommended!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sophisticated, Voluptuous Music, September 14, 2004
By
This review is from: Let It Go (Audio CD)
Friends who happen into hearing my copies of the CDs "Let It Go" (an audiophile classic) and "Behaviour Self" fall immediately into love with Clair Marlo's sophisticated, voluptuous, world-inflected music. You should be able to get the CDs at http://clairmarlo.com, that is, no need to pay collectors' prices for these treats.

CM is not only a singer-songwriter but also a film composer and music producer, including of Harry Chapin's posthumous release, "The Last Protest Singer." She is trained in classical piano and composition as well as in voice, including jazz. Don't miss her work!

5.0 out of 5 stars A pure joy......., June 11, 2007
By
This review is from: Let It Go (Hybr) (Audio CD)
This is a reissue of the old Sheffield Labs edition, with three extra cuts, a different cover photo, and supposedly improved sound. The extra tracks are nice, another photo of a pretty redhead is always welcome, though I confess that I prefer the original, but perfect sound is hard to improve on. Perfect is still perfect. Or, maybe my ear isn't good enough to tell the difference. Either way, a great sounding album.

The original has been a favorite of mine for years, and this is, too. Tough to find, and Clair's recorded output is small, so grab this one the first chance you get. The girl is not only gorgeous, she's a heck of a singer. Enjoy.........

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing voice, February 16, 2006

Clair Marlo is one of these hidden treasures many people try to find in a wrong site. The treasure are in her album and her sweet and melodic voice. She is truly amazing. Her voice and songs are pure joy for my ears. I have the Album "Let It Go" since 1990 and is one of my most beloved music treasures. Songs like "It just a Motion" and "Let It Go" are unique. Clair Marlo Music is a must to own. If you want a really peaceful but powerful performance this is the Album. Buy it and enjoy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for easy-listening !, October 17, 1998
By A Customer

Anyone who likes Linda Ronstadt, Michael Franks, and Astrud Gilberto should try this one. Most of the songs are very relaxing. The beat in some of the songs can be contagious, you can't help but sing with Clair. My 6 year old son always ask me to play it inside our car going to school or just to set me into a happy mood when he would like me to buy a toy for him after school!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD..Great recording!, June 20, 2008

I used to play a lot with home stereo system (CD players and turntables). I had the chance to listen to Clair Marlo on an LP (Let It Go album by Cisco), oh boy was that great! Her voice was very soothing and all the background instruments were all well defined.
I have ripped most of my CD collections into a portable USB hard drive for easier handling when traveling and this CD is one of those record labels that don't belong to a hard drive. It is best to listen to it uncompressed. I am very pleased with the recording as with all of my other Sheffield Lab CDs. To top it all, great music from a great artist.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly, a relaxing voice, May 2, 2008
By
This review is from: Let It Go (Hybr) (Audio CD)
I have first heard of Claire Marlo in the Philippines when i was visiting my cousins. Her single, Til They Take My Heart Away, originally released in 1989 is still being played to this day on local radio stations. It took me some time after searching all second hand record stores in Chicago for her 1989 CD. I just love her voice. Mellow, soothing with a bit of jazzy on the side. It's the kind of music you play when driving at night underneath the stars and you're with someone specials. She is not only popular in the Philippines where they play her music to death but also in South Korea where they used the single mentioned above as a love theme song for a very popular Korean soap opera called Terms of Endearment. This CD is highly recommended for those who were in love, now in love, and who are looking for love.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous....Sensual......., June 7, 2007
By
This review is from: Let It Go (Audio CD)
....A pure joy. I've had this album for more than 15 years, and it's one of my all time absolute favorites. Sure, it's an audiophile classic, and a technical marvel, but that is meaningless without good music. This is great music; wonderful vocals, fine instrumental numbers, not all familiar, but all fabulous. The title cut, and, especially, Stevie Wonder's "I Believe" are the highlights. And a sexy album jacket can't hurt; this may be the sexiest I ever saw, except for a pregnant Carly Simon on "Hotcakes". A girl CAN be erotic fully covered!!

My wife has long accused me of having a weakness for gorgeous redheads. Guilty, but that's not the point; the girl is, indeed gorgeous, and she can REALLY sing. WOW!!

Sadly, Clair hasn't recorded much, and, just as sadly, Sheffield Labs recordings are very tough to find. All the more reason to grab this when you can; you'll be hooked, too. Promise.
