Book Description

July 30, 2012
When his wife and two children were killed in a drunk-driving accident, Chris Williams made the most important decision of his life. On a cold February night in 2007, a devoted father of four and a seventeen-year-old drunk driver both received life sentences. In one violent, devastating instant, both faced a drastically different and uncertain future. But as Chris Williams sat in his demolished vehicle, staring at the car that had just caused the death of his wife, his unborn baby, his nine-year-old daughter, and his eleven-year-old son, he committed to do something extraordinary: he would forgive. That decision launched Chris on a journey toward healing that affected his family and friends, the young man who caused the accident, and an entire community a community that would face another deadly tragedy just a few days later. Chris s message of forgiveness is an empowering invitation to all who have suffered, however unjustly, to lay down their burdens and let it go.

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring! July 24, 2012
Format:Hardcover
I would recommend this book to everyone. It is one we could all internalize and benefit from greatly. I had already heard Brother Williams' story at a conference I went to. I had seen the short video. I loved both but thought I had probably already heard it all since it is such a short book. I accidently downloaded it on my kindle and decided to go ahead and read it rather than returning it. I am so glad I did. There is so much more to his story. I didn't think I could be more impressed with this man, but I was. Really though, I was impressed with how he expressed the healing power of the atonement through, not only this tragedy but through many other trials he faced as well. It is a wonderful testimony of the power of the atonement - one of the best I've ever read. Thank you, Brother Williams, for sharing a very personal testimony to all who will listen/read. As a teacher and one who is all to often asked to speak, I am sure I'll be sharing Brother Williams' story and testimony because I see how much it has uplifted and inspired me. I know through his example I find it much easier to "let it go". What a tremendous blessing that is!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible! August 4, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I picked this up to read in a Deseret book while waiting for my mom to run an errand. I was gripped from the start. I was weeping unabashedly unable to even fathom this man's s experience and his ability to focus on not only his pain but the pain of the young man who hit them and his family. He could have become bitter and angry and demanded retribution but he saw the bigger picture and is a happier person for not going that route and when he honored his beautiful wife and children by asking people if they wanted to help then to forgive someone or perform an act of kindness or share your love with your loved ones and for Valentine's day and to send those stories to his surviving children I was undone. If you read only one book this year-even in your life- i cannot recommend this more highly. It will change your life. If you want to go further donate a few copies to a jail or juvenile center in your area and spread the possibility of changing lives that might otherwise be lost. But read this book. A must-read is the understatement of the year.

5.0 out of 5 stars an amazing story of forgiveness August 15, 2012
Format:Hardcover
I just saw the author and the young man speak on the Glenn Beck show (Aug 15, 2012). This is an amazing story of forgiveness and moving on with your life. Both individuals are now helping others to forgive others, themselves, and to move on. I can't say enough, what an amazing, touching story. I'm now going to order the book to read.
