to see bt live around the time of this recording was to experience an event. The venues were lifted, dropped, rattled. The kids filed out, grinning, shaken and ringing. IF you were there too, then you know...
This album is about as good as fuzzbox power pop gets. If you were around listening to pop music in the early 90's, and missed them, ya better keep your mouth shut about it, cause your canon is incomplete. Yes, there were a few really good bands then. BT was one of them.
I blew out a set of headphones with this.

That's right. Better than U2's Achtung Baby, Nirvana's Nevermind and Radiohead's OK Computer. This record never lets up as the hits keep on coming. Acoustic driven, plugged into a Marshall, melodic power pop the way its meant to be played. Bill, Chris and Tom made a startling leap from previous work on this record. Beautiful, filthy guitars pop up here and there, reminescent of the Replacements, but it is the passionate vocal performances and just better songwriting that separate BT from the rest.

Every song has some outstanding quality about it. My favorites include Larry, Mineral, Mountains of your Head, Frozen Lake, Stymied and Velvet Roof(a harmonica spiked rocker). Even after eight years, I still play it often. This is a must have for any collector of great rock n' roll records.

LMCO found Buffalo Tom breaking free from the J. Masics-esque sound that earned them the snide "Dinosaur Jr. Jr." tag after their first two albums. Janovitz and Colbourn make a huge leap forward in songcraft here: "Mountains of Your Head" and "Mineral" remain amongst the band's best work, and "Frozen Lake" is one of their saddest, prettiest songs. Some albums, once you've heard them, stay with you for years after, gnawing somewhere at the back of your mind. LMCO is one such album.

Let Me Come Over is Buffalo Tom's best work. The songs are variously sweet, tragic, and melodic, but also heartbreakingly relatable tales of life, love, and loss. Its blend of jangling guitars, distortion, and lyrics (laced with the morose-hope that is so uniquely Buffalo Tom) stood as a powerful counterpoint to the "grunge" sound coming from Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. Buffalo Tom represent the culmination of growth and perspective that brought us to the era of post-punk and emo.

A must-have for any serious collector of influential music, or fan of indi-rock, it stands the test of time as the best album by a trio ever. Buffalo Tom is the band that gave me permission to musically grow up, and for that I thank them.

Yes its true, this is one of the greatest albums of the nineties, and it has stood the test of time, I've had in nearly constant rotation for 11, yes 11 years and it still is fresh and speaks to any mood I'm in. When I want to jump up and feel an adrenaline rush I throw on Daryl or Staples, when I want to smile about the wonders of the world I can listen to Porchlight and frozen lake, and when I feel down the voices, the tone, and the composition lift me, this is a fantastic album you should own, trust me.

As a musical outfit, Buffalo Tom has never struck me as anything extraordinary. The singing, playing, writing is on par with a thousand other bands. Yet when Buff Tom locks into groove, few bands are better. On Let Me Come Over, which many fans consider the band's apex, the group found their stride on virtually every song. Let Me Come Over blazes, no question, even what stands as ballads on this set have undeniable power. Underlying the fury, however, is a warm, heartfelt sound that allows you to get close to this album. I don't know what they're saying on most of the songs, but they sound like they're saying them to me. Oh yeah, did I mention it rocks? Highly recommended.

Let Me Come Over is a flawless album, a record of one of the very best bands of the 90s at their creative height. The cd contains several amazing songs that take the genre (alternative rock...etc. whatever you want to call it) to a whole new level. The 'Mats passed it...Dino Jr. caught it and Buffalo Tom ran it into the endzone. Every cut is amazing, and the band has never sounded better! Best cuts: Every song is good but these are the best: "Larry" "Daryl" "Frozen Lake" "Stymied" "Mineral" and, perhaps the best song of the 90s: "Taillights Fade." This is an essential record of the 90s..if you don't own it, your record collection is incomplete.

I bought this album on cassette when it came out in 92 and wore it down to the point that it was warped. I was in high school shortly after that and never went around to getting another copy. Thankfully I came back and realized that I wanted to listen to something that I hadn't heard in a long time. This was only about fifteen years later. Thank god I picked this copy up on CD. What a raw album. Tales of heartbreak, longing, and just plain fun. If you really want to rock out, listen to "Staples", "Velvet Roof", and "Saving Grace". But if you really want to listen to a great song, pop in "Mineral". Awesome. I love Buffalo Tom, and this by far, is their best album.

This is one of the greats, chalk it up as one of the tops of the 90's and certainly of the "alternative rock" greats. Its a disc that speaks to your many moods, whether in need of a lift (Porchlight), feeling quiet and somber (taillights fade) or want to jump around like a maniac (staples or Daryl) its all there, performed beautifully, well written and ordered, I go back to it often and it ages like the best wine, you want this disc.

I have to agree that this is one of the best albums of the 90's, I have searched far and wide to find a intellegent album with wonderful music and meaningful lyrics. I keep coming back to this one. This band were meant to be together doing what they are doing. Life is raw, beautiful, emotional, cruel and simple, this album captures those feelings. It took me a few listens to really appreciate this album, but once it hooks you, you will listening to this album all the way to the grave.
