If you have not heard this album and think yourself a music aficionado, you are missing a key piece of Americana. This album makes your heart swell and deflate, breathe, each song, everything, it's great. I can't say much for his current works, because I just don't know, but this album at least is visceral, cutting, it's a timeless classic that people will listen to an age from now and say, "Things haven't really changed much, eh?"
