Brewer Does It Again,
By
This review is from: Let Me Explain (Paperback)
Gaylord Brewer's "Let Me Explain" is his finest work of poetry since "Devilfish," one of the best reads of the last ten years. In this one, Brewer finds his stroke by writing one apologia after another on a creative range of subjects and to a variety of people. We see the world through Brewer's dark yet sweet lense, whether it is buying melons, being inflicted with stigmata, or grading papers. If you like Carver, Hugo, and crew, you will love the clarity and beauty of the writing here. Iris Press has also done a lovely job with the production of the book. The cover, a wistful razorback hog gazing into the uncertitude, says it all.

Delightful,
This review is from: Let Me Explain (Paperback)
This little volume of poetry is delightful. Brewer's language is lively and fun. This is poetry with attitude. This poet is one even high school students have to love.
