5.0 out of 5 stars "Let Me Say" something about this CD, March 28, 2000
By
This review is from: Let Me Say (Audio CD)
The Kry mastered yet another quality effort on "Let Me Say." To say that this is a much anticipated CD from the California-based threesome understates the excitement of Krybabies world wide.

As is the case with so many band these days, this album departs stylisticly from the last. However, the change is neither uncomfortable nor drastic. If anything, the CD demonstrates a more pop-influenced inflection that may assist in producing hit songs in genres including the adult contemporary market as well as youth oriented rock radio.

The Kry's strength, other than their unabashed devotion to God, continues with their melodic sing-along tunes that are well crafted and recorded. The title cut pleasantly introduces the listener to the more radio-friendly format of this disc. "What God Says," "Our God Reigns," and "Spin" come the closest to being all-out rockers on this album. "Let Me Say" and "Get Away" are fun up-tempo pop numbers that are as easy to sing along with as they are thought provoking. "The Law of Love," "You've God Everything," "Deep and Wide," and "Don't Turn Your Back" maintain The Kry's tradition of strong ballads.

No review of this CD would be complete without recognition of "Cassie's Song (Whatever It Takes)." This song would be a powerful testimony without the emotional impact of knowing Cassie Bernall penned the poem upon which it is based. However, realizing these were some of the last words of hers before her untimely death in last year's Columbine High School shootings only makes this song all the more special. Leave it to God to provide us with the blessing of hearing Cassie's words put to music.

Once again, The Kry provides another strong effort. As with the other albums of theirs, "Let Me Say" will see many spins on my CD players both at home and in the office.

5.0 out of 5 stars At long last, February 22, 2000
By
This review is from: Let Me Say (Audio CD)
Well, it's here! After 3 years (that seemed much longer to their fans), the new Kry album has arrived! If you're a big Krybaby, you know there's been a whole lot of anticipation for this album, and to finally get it in your hands is pure 'krazy' joy! But after you get it from your hands to your cd player, the appreciation changes from 'wow, it's finally out!' to 'wow, it's really good!' The songs range from good jammin praise in "Our God Reigns", to the all out rocker "What God Says", and the absolutely awesome isn't-there-more-to-life anthem of "Spin", where you painfully recognize the circles you run around in during your life, but you know there's more to who you want to be in Christ and how you want to live. The title track, "Let Me Say" carries the same theme of life being more than what you think it is. And anyone who has come to know Jesus as their Savior and friend is going to love "Get Away", and recognize that it is the solution to the dilemma of 'the Spin'! This cd definitely has a different sound than previous Kry albums, but regardless of the musical style, one thread that always seems to come through in their lyrics is the encouragement that God's love for you is constant and unfailing, and you're beautifully reminded on "Deep and Wide" and "Don't Turn Your Back". But probably the most beautiful track is the ultra compelling "Whatever it Takes", a song that was taken from the words of a poem written by Columbine victim Cassie Bernall just two days before she died. It's powerful to hear her willingness to surrender 'whatever it takes' to live for Christ, and know that it was more than words to her, because she surrendered her own life by confessing God to the gunmen two days later. Her song, her words, force you to look into your own heart before you sing along, and ask am I really willing to do whatever it takes? Lord, make me willing. And if your heart is not softened after asking that question, keep listening for the hidden track, and let the amazing grace of God remind you of why it's all worth it to live for Jesus.
