4.0 out of 5 stars J.W. Howard II review of Kinast, Robert L. Let Ministry Teach; a Guide to Theological Reflection, December 6, 2008
This review is from: Let Ministry Teach: A Guide to Theological Reflection (From the Interfaith Sexual Trauma Institute) (Paperback)
Summary: Dr. Kinast gives a systematic approach on how to internalize and reflect theologically. He helps in the synthesizing of theology and practical experiences that construct our individual perspectives on faith. He gives an example of this on pages 100 thru 104. Kinast states; "Situations call for application because they provide a new perspective or require a new evaluation of a person's theology." It is not to say that your theology changes, but it requires how you view a particular situation through the lens of your theology.

Assessment: Kinast's approach is truly a directed methodology that assists readers via a system of steps helping the reader to analyze and think more deeply about the process of theological reflection and its relationship to practical theology; an essential skill for anyone in the service of ministry. The examples in the text help to teach while employing practical suggestions and principles grounded in concepts found in process and systematic theology. I found this book very helpful as one of the many source materials that I use in ministry for meaningful theological and pastoral reflection.

Reflection: This was a well researched and presented book. I definitely found the material very useful in ministry. This book was assigned as part of the readings for a graduate ministry and practice course, but soon became incorporated in my methodology for theological and pastoral reflection.
