Biography

Though they had all the trappings of a Southern-fried blues band, Little Feat were hardly conventional. Led by songwriter/guitarist Lowell George, Little Feat were a wildly eclectic band, bringing together strains of blues, R&B, country, and rock & roll. The bandmembers were exceptionally gifted technically and their polished professionalism sat well with the slick sounds coming out of southern… Read more in Amazon's Little Feat Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Feat at their best !, October 7, 2003

This review is from: Let It Roll (Audio CD)
In my opinion "Let It Roll" is one of the most under-rated albums to be released in the last 20 years. You will hear some of most catchy and funky tunes on this CD, and also some of the most beautifully layered ballads. Getting Craig Fuller (ex-Pure Prairie League) to join this band as lead vocalist was a miracle in itself. NOBODY......and I mean NOBODY could have come anywhere close to filling Lowell George's vocal spot like this guy. I have been listening to this album ever since it came out and it just keeps on gettin better. It's one of my all-time top 5 CDs. Get it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lowell in the 70s - a tough act to follow!, May 25, 2000

It was always going to be difficult to follow the utterly pioneering sounds of Lowell's early work with the Feat. I listened to this album in 1988, having heard most of the earlier work first. I guess I was just pleased that they'd released some sort of tribute album, and the sound is quite different to the earlier works.

Nevertheless, I have just one question for you:

Can any of you listen to "Hangin' on to the good times", and not feel just a little melancholy, a little sad that such a truly innovative artist died so youmg?

Many artists carry on beyond their sell by date, but I'd love to know what Lowell would make of his mates' tribute album if he were about today. My view? It's still groundbreaking stuff, and I know a lot of you will have access to a lot of stuff in the US that we don't hear over here, but believe me, when I play this to my mates, they have never heard anything quite like it. Unique! A true mish-mash of musical styles, with the slide guitar that made Little Feat Little Feat, pretty well expounded by Craig Fuller. I've listened to this album so may times I've had to buy a new CD!

You will not be disappointed, unless perhaps, you're Lowell George, but we'll sadly never know what he thinks.......

5.0 out of 5 stars Best CD ever, November 24, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Let It Roll (Audio CD)
One of the best CD's I've ever heard put together, there are no weak songs and every cut seems to work with it's predecessor and successor. If you could have only 1 CD to drive across country - this is the one you should have.

Of course it doesn't hurt if you're a Feat fan.
