5.0 out of 5 stars Little Feat at their best !
In my opinion "Let It Roll" is one of the most under-rated albums to be released in the last 20 years. You will hear some of most catchy and funky tunes on this CD, and also some of the most beautifully layered ballads. Getting Craig Fuller (ex-Pure Prairie League) to join this band as lead vocalist was a miracle in itself. NOBODY......and I mean NOBODY could have come...

3.0 out of 5 stars Faking it?
We think that this may not have been an original CD but rather a repackaging of MP3's. If that's the case, Amazon should have made that clear when I purchased this. I might have looked a little further to find an original.

NOBODY......and I mean NOBODY could have come anywhere close to filling Lowell George's vocal spot like this guy. I have been listening to this album ever since it came out and it just keeps on gettin better. It's one of my all-time top 5 CDs. Get it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lowell in the 70s - a tough act to follow!, May 25, 2000

It was always going to be difficult to follow the utterly pioneering sounds of Lowell's early work with the Feat. I listened to this album in 1988, having heard most of the earlier work first. I guess I was just pleased that they'd released some sort of tribute album, and the sound is quite different to the earlier works.

Nevertheless, I have just one question for you:

Can any of you listen to "Hangin' on to the good times", and not feel just a little melancholy, a little sad that such a truly innovative artist died so youmg?

Many artists carry on beyond their sell by date, but I'd love to know what Lowell would make of his mates' tribute album if he were about today. My view? It's still groundbreaking stuff, and I know a lot of you will have access to a lot of stuff in the US that we don't hear over here, but believe me, when I play this to my mates, they have never heard anything quite like it. Unique! A true mish-mash of musical styles, with the slide guitar that made Little Feat Little Feat, pretty well expounded by Craig Fuller. I've listened to this album so may times I've had to buy a new CD!

You will not be disappointed, unless perhaps, you're Lowell George, but we'll sadly never know what he thinks.......

5.0 out of 5 stars Best CD ever, November 24, 2003

One of the best CD's I've ever heard put together, there are no weak songs and every cut seems to work with it's predecessor and successor. If you could have only 1 CD to drive across country - this is the one you should have.

Of course it doesn't hurt if you're a Feat fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fine comeback, July 12, 2000

And so comes the third incarnation of the Feat... First and foremost, the critics have it all wrong. Little Feat really stopped being Lowell George's group after "Feats Don't Fail Me Now." And his contributions to the albums that followed ranged from pretty good to pretty slight. So to act as if this reunion is choppy because Lowell is gone is a dubious claim. Lowell gave everyone ample time to adjust to his absence. The only thing that mars this release is its somewhat dated sound. But being the master musicians Little Feat are, they mostly steer clear of the late 80s sounds that sometimes muck up albums produced during that watered down time period. Ex-Pure Prairie League frontman Craig Fuller turns a great parlor trick by making his voice sound exactly like Lowell George and, at times, this album hits the high marks that Feat did in the mid seventies. But, as we all know now, Fuller wasn't really a necessary addition to what Little Feat had become which is a good-time road house band that can play the socks off of most anyone. Mining the old times with Fuller's voice (which works wonders on "Hate To Lose Your Lovin'") and the melancholy "Hangin' On to the Good Times" works well here but they didn't need to proceed and drive so close to has-been territory.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Miss this One, May 5, 1999

This is on my desert island list. I heard The Feat do Hate to Lose Your Love, and Let It Roll on Sat. Nite Live and went out and bought this the next day. That was back in what '87? I've been a big Feat Fan since. Craig Fuller has since left band but this CD is still one of the best Feat CDs ever. Check it out you won't regret it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love the Feat, August 16, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Let It Roll (Audio CD)
This is the album that introduced me to Little Feat, and while it is not their best ever, I dare say it is one of the most unique sounding albums I have had heard. That is what attracted me to Little Feat, and if you are looking for a change of pace, and one of the funkiest bands you will ever hear, check out the Feat. I have subsequently become a HUGE Little Feat fan, and a great admirer of Lowell George, but I think Craig Fuller did as well to fill Lowell's little feat as anyone could (This is Little Feat's first post-George album of 100% new material). It would be like finding a replacement for Jimi Page, or John Lennon. It's something that shouldn't be done, but when you throw away the word replacement, and look at it like it really is (the rebirth of one of the greatest bands ever!) it is a much easier prospect to swallow. The fact is I love new Little Feat, old Little Feat, and anything to do with Lowell George. (for those of you who own every Feat and Lowell George album and need a new fix, check out Robert Palmer's "Sneakin' Sally through the Ally") so in short: The playing is great, and there are enough really good songs to make it worth it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lowell George Would Be Proud, May 30, 2008
This review is from: Let It Roll (Audio CD)
Some people claimed that, with Lowell George having died in 1979, Little Feat had no right to reunite in 1988, but their complaining should get them beds in community residences for the mentally ill. The truth is, the band features many longtime members in its reunion incarnation, including guitarist-singer Paul Barrere, and with slide guitarist Fred Tackett and percussionist Sam Clayton, as well as originals Bill Payne (keyboards) and Richie Hayward (drums), in tow, you get a great recreation of the classic Little Feat sound and style. In addition, singer-guitarist Craig Fuller does a great approximation of George's vocal style. As a result, this is a record that George would be proud of, so all of the complaining was unjustified.
