5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Rock Album of the '90s, January 25, 2005

I am not a very wordy reviewer, and I do not need to be with this CD. Just buy it and it will speak for itself. The musicianship is excellent and the songs are timeless. I purchased this in 1991 when it first came out (being a Racer X fan), and was blown away. This was more my style than Racer X, more bluesy and rockin' than just speed. Incredible vocals, stylish guitar riffs and leads, and solid rhythms. I had no doubt that I would see this band in concert and watch them rise to the top. In 1991, most "hair" bands were on the way out and grunge was around the corner. The Scream could have easily become one of the most popular bands of the 90s, despite grunge. I was very disappointed when John Corabi left to join Motley Crue. At that time, I thought 'a great move for the Crue, bad move for The Scream', but unfortunately John lost on both counts. The Crue are a great band, but John should have stayed with The Scream. Much like Gary Cherone should have stayed with Extreme. Both guys joined bands that were going downhill and used the "new vocalists" as scapegoats for their failures. That's okay, though, because we know that the true John Corabi was with The Scream. I would love to see them reunite.

Anyway, I have digressed. Did I say I wasn't a wordy reviewer? So, to summarize, anyone who is a rock music fan should buy this album. You will not be disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let it SCREAM!!!, August 1, 2004
This review is from: Let It Scream (Audio CD)
When you think of the music in 1991, it's very possible that your stomach gets a lil woozey when thoughts of the 3rd round of Hair Metal starts entering your brain. Bands like FireHouse, Nelson, Trixer and the like helped make Seattle look really ~REALLY~ cool, but there was one last great band to come out of LA in the early 90's and that band was The Scream!

Led by John Corabi, The Scream put together a near perfect album filled with Rock, Blues, blood, sweat, and emotion. The Album immediatly catches your attention with the rocker "Outlaw" and then hooks you in with the very catchy "Believe in me". Another song that will be in your head for days is "Loves got a Hold on Me", also "Never Loved her Anyway" is one of the coolest songs to date! One song on the disc that I have to mention is "Father, Mother, Son", if your not careful the track just might bring a tear or two by the end.

For me, the albums stand out track is the song "Man in the Moon" which to this day IS STILL my All Time favorite song (Check out the live version w/ Corabi's later band Union on the CD "Live at the Galaxy").

The only miss on the CD is the song "You are all I Need" and that song isn't really bad, in fact the Versus are actually really good, just the chorus isn't up to par with the rest of the CD.

I really can't recommend this CD enough...Let it Scream is everything great about that era in Music, and shows how great the music of the 90's could have been...if not for Firehouse and Trixter ruining it for everybody*

Let it Scream = AAAAA+++++

PS: CORABI RULES!

5.0 out of 5 stars Top-Notch Straight-Up Metal, August 31, 2001
This review is from: Let It Scream (Reis) (Audio CD)
This CD should have been a MONSTER seller and all over the airwaves when it was first released. John Corabi is an awesome frontman and went on to further prove himself in Motley Crue and Union. And the band here scorches and smokes behind him. There's truly something for everyone here: shuffling back-porch blues ("Never Loved Her Anyway,"), sensitive but never sappy ballads ("Mother, Father, Son"), funkified rock ("Tell Me Why") and lots of full-burn, straight-ahead metal reminiscent of early prime Van Halen ("Outlaw," "Catch Me If You Can"). If you're a fan of good old hard-edged rock/metal with groove, melody and attitude to spare, you can't afford to pass this one up!

Unreal how raw and tight this band it. In some aspects, it reminds me of LA Guns. Jon Corabi is a very good front man, but made career suicide when he joined Motley. He never fit in and was never accepted by fans and then had Motley turn their back on him. Jon Corabi is a good musician and very good singer. I can only imagine what the next Scream release would have sounded like if it were not for him joining the Crue. All in all, this cd ROCKS!

5.0 out of 5 stars SCREAM (OUT LOUD), July 10, 2001

I bought this tape (yes I said Tape) back when it first came out in 1991. It was one of my favorites and I could never understand why it did not get much attention. John Corabi has an absolutly amazing voice. Every song on the ablum rocks, from the opener 'Outlaw' to my personal favorite 'Man in the Moon' to the end with 'Catch me if you can'. When I say if rocks..... I mean it will rock your... you know what.. off. And I can't believe that in all the reviews for John's current band Union- no one mentions The Scream!!!!! He is referred to as the 'former frontman of the CRUE???? They do not know what they are missing. So now I am very happy to see that this album has been re-released- DO NOT HESITATE to BUY NOW!!!!!!!

Back in 1991, I got hooked on The Scream's "Let It Scream" and 12 years later it's the most played disc in my collection. I have never tired or got bored from repeated listening and still crank it up at least once a week sometimes more frequently. "Let It Scream" is the only disc in my collection that I have two copies of, and even have it on tape. The release features such classics as "I Believe In Me", Man In The Moon", "Father, Mother, Son", "Never Loved Her Anyway", "Tell Me Why", "Loves Got A Hold Of Me", I Don"t Care", "Every Inch A Woman, "You Are All I Need" and "Outlaw". Not only is this a vital release, but one any hard rock fan should own and I consider it to be a Classic release. Once in a blue moon, so to speak does a band like The Scream come along. Musically as a group their are no weak links and that makes it all the better. It's too bad that John Corabi, could not stay with The Scream and pass on joining Motley Crue. Although they only had one release. Had they stayed together, they would have been huge and no doubt left their influence on new bands being signed through the years. I know that they have left their influnce into what I listen to, will purchase and what I will not. I was excited to see Spitfire Records re-issue this release. I prayed they included, "Young and Dumb" off of Encino Man Soundtrack and checked with the Band. What else they may have recorded that didn't make "Let It Scream" and release it as Bonus Tracks. I still hope that John Corabi, Bruce Bouillet, John Alderete and Walt Woodward III will get back together and release more Scream albums. Treat yourself to "Let It Scream", your going to love it and it will be a instant favorite in your CD Library.

John Corabi's best work! There is no filler on this release. The band is tight. This should have been a big hit. If you like to rock, you will not be disappointed. John has an excellent voice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Purchase Immediately!!, December 27, 2005
This review is from: Let It Scream (Reis) (Audio CD)
If you are looking into purchasing this CD, then you must be a "Hair Metal / Hard Rock Lover!" Since that is obviously the case with you, you must buy this! How this album slipped by me when I was in high school back from '90 to '94, I have no idea. John Corabi and the boys are just "feeling it" here on LET IT SCREAM! Enough said!!
