4.0 out of 5 stars A LOW BUDGET "SERENDIPITY" OR MALE "BRIDGET JONES DIARY", October 13, 2002
This romantic comedy centers around James Ellis (Kipp Marcus) and Sarah Milson (Alice Dylan). James is eighteen years old when he first falls in love with Sarah. He attends the CIA, the Cooking Institute of America (I guess so that the Culinary Institue of America doesn't get upset). He wants to become a chef and own his own restaurant someday. She is a college girl. They ultimately end up having a date, and when they kiss it is magical. He is head over heels in love. She, while very much attracted to him, listens to her parents, and the romance goes nowhere. The kiss off scene, which takes place over the phone while he is cooking at the CIA, works very well.

Shattered by losing the girl of his dreams, he forsakes his own personal dream and drops out of the CIA six months before graduating. Living in Manhattan, he is a lost soul without his Sarah, and he aimlessly drifts. Sarah, meanwhile, has gone abroad to finish college. When she returns, he finds out. Their paths cross a few times, as she, too, lives in Manhattan. Meanwhile, years go by. She gets engaged to a man of whom her parents approve. He, meanwhile, is still scraping along, his dream of being a chef on hold. He dates a series of nutjobs, while he moons over his lost love. Neither he nor Sarah are happy. There are, however, some very funny scenes involving these nut jobs that he dated.

Of course, their paths again cross, and que sera, sera! This being a romantic comedy, there has to be a happy ending. To discover how it comes about, however, requires you to watch this movie. It is a little quirky film, but occassionally quite funny. Kipp Marcus is not particularly attractive, looking cadaverously thin and drawn, while Alice Dylan, though pleasant looking, is no beauty queen. They seem to be almost an odd couple. Still, Kipp Marcus has a sort of ingratiating charm that works, a sort of poor man's Ben Affleck. Alice Dylan gives a credible performance as Sarah. Look for Bernadette Peters in the role of Elise Ellis, mother to James.

4.0 out of 5 stars Formula mistiming between potential mates, January 17, 2002
This review is from: Let It Snow (DVD)
Yep, this is a formula movie. So we will not compare it for originality of which it has none. The actors go through the motions and make faces that could work for silent movies. The title is unique. I guess as the only time they can get together is on a snow day. This makes for a frosty relationship at best.

The story is about two people played by Kipp Marcus and Alice Dylan with different agendas and never seen to get together an opportune time. Never a happy moment movie.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let It Snow, May 15, 2003
By

I stumbled upon this movie that was showing on HBO and decided to give a chance. I was nursing a rather severe hangover at the time, so i had nothing better to do. Surprising, I ended up really enjoying this movie. Normally I'm not a big fan of love stories but this one just worked. Plain and simple, it was just one of those movies that makes you feel good after u watch it. It's a bit sappy at times but it doesnt go overboard with it. I don't think i could sit around with the guys and watch this movie, but it would be a damn good date movie. Anyways, i was wondering if the movie was really as good as i thought it was or if i was just still drunk from the night before. it seems like im not the only one that liked it.
