5.0 out of 5 stars Ah, The Sweet Stink of Death Breath
Nitty-gritty stuff: "Let It Stink" is the 2007 follow-up EP to Death Breath's 2006 album Stinking Up the Night. Nicke Andersson is on drums, guitars and bass. Robert Pehrsson is on guitar and much of the vocals. Other vocals from Scott Carlson (Repulsion) and Erik Sahlström (Maze of Torment). The EP contains three cover songs and four originals. This review is from: Let It Stink (MP3 Download)
I got the CD version, which includes two videos.

The first thing that struck me about Death Breath is that they're obviously having a fun in the genre, a genre that the contributors obviously have plenty of experience with. There's a sense of humour about both of their releases so far that I really appreciate. It's nice to have that on top of quality music (especially when metal seems to take itself so seriously much of the time), and these guys really have the chops to do both very well.

It's not a challenging release to digest, it is old-school death metal as others have said, but that doesn't make it bad by any stretch. On the contrary, it rolls along very nicely indeed, it's definitely not a muddy wall of noise either, credit to the engineer. I can pick out everything in the mix with no problem, even on the crap headphones I'm currently saddled with. Pehrsson does sound a bit like he needs a throat lozenge by the time "Sacrifice" is done, poor chap.

Basically, it's a solid EP following a solid first album. If you like older death metal, if you're a fan of the prior work of the band members, if you liked Death Breath's first, chances are pretty good you'll like this. At the very least, you'll probably like a couple of songs. It doesn't really bring anything new, or evolve much past Stinking Up the Night, but why fix something that's not broken? It sounds good, they're great musicians, and you can get some good air drums going to it.

My favourite track is probably Dead But Walking but the G.B.H. cover is a lot of fun too. Have to say, tidy outro work for the last track, too. It's the sort of outro that hints at a tasty next album. Which should be coming in the very near future. Bring on the stink, I say.

Very hard hitting, non-stop drum line. I like the echo(...or reverb) on the vocals, its very reminicent of Slayer's Show No Mercy, or old Venom. Best part is it doesn't slow down! I dig the Zombie theme.
