1.0 out of 5 stars What a joke January 11, 2013

Format:Paperback
This book is good but not worth the cost. It has valuable information for the novice player and if you regularly lose and want to get better you could benefit from this book however reading free online forums you can find the same information for free. This seems to me to be one of those gimmicks to make people think if it cost that much it must be great. Read 2+2 forums and watch some of the online live sessions for a $50 subscription and you will get more info for a fraction of the cost.

1.0 out of 5 stars A Joke January 20, 2013

If you like to waste 1.500$ on a book that gives you tipps like "if it doesn't work well, take a break", "high stakes players are better because they can read the opponents cards better" and "Luck is preparation meeting opportunity" then please go on!

This 80 pages book (~160 in printed Version) has only a bit to no useful facts.
Every player can calculate how many possible card combinations are possible, that helps you in no way.
How you could play at which position, how standard players act, that all could be found even in 100% of poker forums online.
You pay here about 20$ for every single page, giving you 90% only a few platitudes.

It's a book every experienced poker player could write in 2-5 days. Raising over 1.000$ for it is just a ripoff of unexperienced players who fall for the in my opinion faked reviews (especially the ones on the book's homepage).
Don't think more expensive = better. It's not!

The author has not any serious results in the last years. There are thousands of mid stakes players who plays and undestrand modern poker much better than him. You can give one of them only 100$ to coach you, and have much better improvement to your game than buying this book. You can subscribe to any coaching site with only 50$ and see thousand of videos with much more information in the same topic.

I could write a better book with the same concepts, in only just one month. If I published it, I would have set the price to about 5$.

But I'm not doing this because it has not meaning. Any small stakes and mid stakes player can write such a book. It is common begginers knowledge!

The book claims in its title that it is "to crush SSNL and MSNL". That is small stakes and mid stakes.

But it is not true.

The book is useless for small and medium stakes because all the information it contains , is common knowledge for any winning player on these stakes. And of course no one can "crush SSNL and MSNL" by just reading (in 80 pages or ...170 half pages) about how to read opponent ranges and exploit them.

But the book is excellent for beginners who wants to crush ...microstakes! (up to 10NL)

It gives very solid begginer information in only a few hours. You don't need more than 3 hours to read it.

The same information is contained in many other cheap books (costs less than 30$) and videos in poker tutorials (costs less than 50$) but they need more time and practice for someone to learn all these.

So if you are a billionaire who wants to play...

I wish I could get people to buy my book for $1800. Well done.

I'm mainly writing this because The authors name makes me giggle. Tri Nguyne is pronounced "Try & Win". Funny. The book has some decent basics in it - mainly be aggressive. It's short, so it encapsulates what other authors like Ed Miller state, but in a "cliff notes" sort of way.

No book will make you a winning player - but I suppose there's enough here to give you a good start in no limit Holdem. But there are other books a literally a hundredth the price that as much or more info. I'd suggest Ed Miller, Dan Harrington, and David Sklansky's books.
