Editorial Reviews

This album came screaming out of Australia in 1977! AC/DC's first stab at a "real" album - a break from the early "novelty" approach to songwriting and a move to the more focused album-oriented view that the band would perfect. Includes the classics Let There Be Rock; Bad Boy Boogie; Whole Lotta Rosie , and more!

5.0 out of 5 stars AC/DC's Best!! August 10, 2005
Format:Audio CD
In my humble opinion, this is, by far, AC/DC's best album. It is rawer, faster, heavier, nastier and more brutal than "High Voltage" or any other album by them, and I'm sure that, at the time, not too many thought that was possible.

1. Go Down-5/5. Excellent upbeat, hard driving song with very sexually charged lyrics. You can almost imagine Bon Scott saying these things to the women he would meet. This song has a driving beat that doesn't let up.

2. Dog Eat Dog-5/5. Another great, heavy, upbeat song. The lyrics are one of Bon Scott's best and actually had something to say besides his typical rock 'n' roll lyrics. One of the best.

3. Let There Be Rock-5/5. Another signature AC/DC song. The lyrics to this are the best ever for AC/DC. Although this song is long, it never wears you down because the fast beat never slows down. One of their best ever.

4. Bad Boy Boogie-4/5. A little bluesy, with a bit of a dancy feel to it. One of the weaker songs on here, but still great.

5. Problem Child-3/5. This is one of my least favorite songs ever by AC/DC. I wish that "Crabsody In Blue" would have been put on here instead as it was on the Australian release. It's just a bit too long and a little boring.

6. Overdose-4/5. Heavy riffing with an excellent vocal delivery from Bon Scott. Hard driving rocker, if a bit too long.

7. Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be-5/5. Another fantastic heavy rocker. Hard driving and full of attitude. One of the best on the album.

8. Whole Lotta Rosie-5/5. My personal favorite AC/DC song ever. This song is fast and furious, nasty and sexy, driving and relentless. This has AC/DC's best guitar riff and Bon Scott's best vocal delivery. Absolutely perfect!

This is the most furious, raw and heavy album that AC/DC ever created. The songs definetly live up to the great title. I consider this one of rock's greatest albums ever, whether you are an AC/DC fan or not.

5.0 out of 5 stars It doesn't get any better than this! November 20, 2000
Format:Audio CD
If we refer back to the original characteristics and meaning of rock 'n' roll, AC/DC proves once again on this album that they were and still are the best 'pure' rock band in the world. They know how to get back to the very roots of rock better than anyone else out there. The title-song of this album symbolizes there ability to catch this energy. Simply put, it doesn't get any more powerful than these guys doing their thing. Beginning with "Go Down", every song on the album moves up another notch, culminating with the amazing "Whole Lotta Rosie." If you want an amazing listening experience, but also one that will leave you playing air guitar or shouting at the top of your lungs, this is the one to get your hands on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Let There Be Rock! February 19, 2005
Format:Audio CD
AC/DC's best album with Bon Scott, what is it? Thats right, Let There Be Rock! AC/DC's Best album of all time? well maybe, I'm not sure if this is better then Back On Black or not, I'm kinda on the fence. Bon Scott's vocals sounded the best on this album. Some people will say High Voltage or Highway To Hell but trust me on this, Let There Be Rock has the greatest vocals that man ever recorded. And being in good classic AC/DC fashion the rythem section is tighter then any other bands. Oh, and lets not for get about the guitar duo of Malcome and Angus. This has the best guitar that the boys ever recorded, trust me if you ask any guitar player what the best AC/DC album is they will say....Let There Be Rock.

The album opens up with 'Go Down' which after reading the reviews by other people I found that people were only giving it a 7 out of 10 but that so not true. You see this is one of the better songs on the album. The guitar riff is heavy and bluesy, it has a great groove and Bons vocal delivery are top notch, and the lyrics are great by any rock standards, this is a killer track. 'Dog Eat Dog' is next. Killer song. Classic AC/DC guitar licks, awesome solo and just a real bada** song to rock out to, easily one of the best songs on the album! Next is the title track, 'Let There Be Rock' and I mean what can you say about this song, other then its just damn amazing! The lyrics are so awesome that its not even funny and the way that the guitar and drums are almost insinc with each other is so awesome, this is straight up classic AC/DC! Let There Be Rock is probley the second best song on the album. 'Bad Boy Googie' oh man what a killer chorus! The lyrics are so powerful, they are perfect for Bons voice, and oh man the guitar riffs on this song are not for the weak, wanna talk about a power house, well thats what Angus is one this one! Next is 'Problem Child' which is pretty hard and heavy but kinda repetitive, but other then that this song rocks hard! 'Overdoese' has such a killer guitar section. I dont even know what to say about this one because I love it so much. I take it back Let There Be Rock is not the second best song on the album this little baby is! 'Hell Aint A Bad Place To Be' has cool riffs, a Cool beat, and pretty cool lyrics but its nothing way to special, but not bad by any means! The album closes with it's best song, and maybe AC/DC's all time best song, 'Whole Lotta Rosie' I love this song to death! It's damn amazing. The guitar riff is easily one of the 5 greatest guitar riffs ever, and the solo is the all time greatest guitar solo Angus Young has ever played! The lyrics are so cool, and so powerful, I swear I bought this album just for this song and then I found out all the other songs were great as well.

To rap things up this is a power house of an album, not a weak track present on this one. The guitar playing is not to be matched and the vocals are so over the top that every thing just meshes together perfectly! Do your self a really really really big favor and pick up Let There Be Rock today!
