I didn't buy this book on amazon but felt obliged to write a review after seeing couple of negative comments. Well -first thing first- nobody can't satisfy everybody. But if you are somebody who is new to C and considering buying this book all I can say is "don't think twice" go ahead. Of course this book is not for serious C programmers. This is for beginners. Anybody who read this book will notice the effort the author has given to point out silly mistakes anybody would make at their beginning of C journey which would in turn hours of debugging time. If you find learning from K&R is difficult then this book is the salvation.

This is a very good book for beginers to get introduced to C, especially for people who lack computer science background or are new to programming.

To all those who had such negative reviews, this book is primarily intended for students/professionals of India who are new to C.

It is written in simple English with concise code and examples. The book reads like a story and can be finished within a week. Yet it introduces concepts like pointers,structures, strings handling,etc in an easy manner. This is certainly NOT a complete C book and thats not the author's intention. It is just a gentle introduction to C and it is as simple as that.

For advanced concepts like Data Structures, Dynamic Memory Allocation, Pointers,etc. , the author has written other books:

Data Structure Through C (ISBN 978-8176567060)
Understanding Pointers in C - 4th Ed. (ISBN 978-8176563581)
C Pearls (ISBN 978-8170298595)
C Projects (ISBN 978-8170292562)
Exploring C(ISBN 978-8176566339)
Graphics Under C (ISBN 978-8170299936)
Test Your C Skill - 2nd Ed. (ISBN 978-8170298014)
Undocumented DOS Through C (ISBN 978-8170295198)
VC++ Gems (ISBN 978-8176565523)
VC++, COM And Beyond (ISBN 978-8176562065)
Visual C++ Programming (ISBN 978-8170299714)
Visual C++ Projects (ISBN 978-8176560634)
Working With C (For DOE - A & B Level) (ISBN 978-8170293019)
Writing TSR's Through C (ISBN 978-8170295204)

I hope other readers/reviewers know what to expect from this book and then write a review.

The author is reputed in India and this is one of his best selling books. I am in no way related to the author but this is one of my favorite books. Hence, I felt I should write a proper review after reading other negative reviews. Hope others find my review useful.

Best,
Lakshman
