4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Europop From France, November 2, 2003
This review is from: Let Your Body Talk (Audio CD)
Daddy DJ is a European trio from France. The members are Dave, Charly, and Jean-Christophe. They all have different musical backgrounds but join together to form some awesome europop numbers! And they also form the world's first animated dance group! Here's a review of the album, track by track:

01 Daddy DJ (Chico & Tonio Radio Edit) - 3:36 - Their debut (surprisingly self titled) single was an international hit. With awesome synths and some strange lyrics this song shouldn't dissapoint. Not to mention this song is REALLY catchy!! 10/10
02 Where Are You? - 3:28 - Similar in style to the first song but not quite as good. At least the lyrics are a little bit less disturbing :) 9/10
03 Over You (Original Radio Edit) - 3:34 - Their third single is a little more grown up compared to their first two singles. It's about umm... getting over someone. Still has a fun europop feeling to it. 9.5/10
04 Let Your Body Talk - 4:29 - Kinda weird... song the album is titled after is surprisingly slow, uncatchy, and depressing... However the beat does get picked up in the middle. Alright, it's always good to have some variety. 8/10
05 Little Baby Girl - 4:55 - Another slow jam on this CD, a lot more synthesized than the last track, and not quite as good. However they are quite similar. 7.5/10
06 U See - 4:49 - This songs a bit more faster than the last two tracks but not quite as happy and catchy as the earlier tracks. Still decent though. 8.5/10
07 In My Dreams - 3:22 - Instrumental, and has some cricket chirping throughout the song... Not surprising, this song is a snooze and should be skipped. 3/10
08 The Girl In Red (Live Mix) - 5:02 - Finally! a song that brings back the energy!! This is their second single, the version of the song included is the live mix which sounds pretty much like an extended version of the radio edit. 10/10
09 Louder - 5:17 - A surprisingly quiet instrumental track. You'd think it would be louder as the name implys, but no such luck, at least it's better than... 7/10
10 Nightmares - 5:25 - Somewhat scary, as the title might imply, but mainly boring and definitely not catchy. 6/10
11 Daddy DJ (J&B Trance Club Mix) - 5:59 - Definitely more trance than europop, but it still is good. Nice little bonus. 9/10
12 The Girl In Red (Chico & Tonio Feat. J&B Club Mix) - 5:39 - Yes! Chico & Tonio come back to make another awesome remix of Daddy DJ!! This time around The Girl In Red gets their audio makeover. 10/10
13 Daddy DJ (J&B Feat. Mr Manu Underground Mix) - 5:51 - Underground?...Yes. Bad?... Yes. Sadly this underground mix by J&B and Mr Manu really isn't quite as good as the other mixes on the CD :( 6/10
14 Over You (Ian Van Dahl Remix Radio Edit) - 3:20 - Ahh.. Ian Van Dahl the group that brought you the hits Castles In The Sky, Will I, Reason, Try, Secret Love, and I Can't Let You Go shine their light on this already awesome Daddy DJ track and make it better!! 10/10

If the extra remixes weren't enough of a bonus for you Radikal Records also decided to include enhanced videos of the first two singles (Quicktime Format). Here's a review of them:

15 Daddy DJ Video - - The video itself is pretty cool! The animation is top notch, however the audio and video presentation could have been a bit better. Oh well, the plot of the video actually goes with the song's lyrics! It's about a boy who has a dad that's a DJ, and the boy wants to go to the party!! Will he make it? Watch to find out. 10/10
16 The Girl In Red Video - 3:51 - Like the video for Daddy DJ, this video has some small audio and video problems but it doesn't detract too much from the experience. The video is about a girl in red that the boy has a crush on. But sadly she's got a super buff boyfriend. Will she leave her boyfriend for a new relationship? Watch to find out. 9/10

Overall, although this album was released two years late in America...just look at all you get! 10 songs, 4 remixes and 2 enhanced videos!! Definitely worth your money if your a fan of europop tunes ala Alice Deejay, Vengaboys, Eiffel 65... Give this a chance and BUY IT!! :D

5.0 out of 5 stars Euro-Dance, October 30, 2003
This review is from: Let Your Body Talk (Audio CD)
Personally I really like this CD, It depends on if you are a House/Dance/Techno music fan or not. If you are then its a really good addition to your CD collection. And its true, this CD got to the US about 2 years late and they still dont play it on the radio(at least not in California!)

Daddy DJ was hot in France in February of 2001. Who knows now? It's fun, it's cute whatever. I think I just want to rant about the sloooooooooooooow process of getting great music from other countries on our radio stations and televisions. But... like that'll ever happen. So, yeah, Daddy DJ is very catchy.
