About the Author
J. Kelley Avery, M.D. has been active in educating physicians about the causes of malpractice suits for the past 20 years. From 1951 to 1981 he practiced Family Medicine in Union City, Tennessee. Since that time he has been engaged in Administrative Medicine for a major hospital in Nashville, Tennessee and later for a company which owned a chain of hospitals. He was one of the founding directors of State Volunteer Mutual Insurance Company, a physician-governed provider of professional liability insurance.
Dr. Avery graduated from Southern Methodist University in Texas, and the University of Tennessee College of Medicine.
