This little book was packed with action, suspense and romance.

The story centers around Gabe Sinclair a former SEAL who is now a Dr., and Cassidy McKnight a wealthy girl who has turned her life around.

While in South America to retrieve a child she promised to act as guardian for she is kidnapped. Cassidy's dad sends Gabe to bring her back. Gabe really doesn't want to do it for three reasons...one, he remembers her as a spoiled rich girl, two, he knows what happened with Cassidy's brother Micah (also a SEAL) but can't tell her because it would put other SEAL teams in danger and three, he has always harbored feelings for her.

He does agree to go however, and is successful in bringing them back to the states. But when attempts on her life continue, he enlists the help of a detective friend. Gabe has a need to protect her but will they find out who is behind the attempts before it's too late.

This is a great book. Just when you think you have it figured out...another twist. It keeps you turning pages. Great job Lynette. Looking forward to the next installment in August 08, called River of Secrets.

I'm always interested in the family relations that tie into the story. Gabe knew the secret of her brothers death, but couldn't tell her. Cassidy didn't know if she could trust him if he wouldn't tell her how her brother died. Both are tied to honor and can't compromise their standards. I had to read page after page until I came to the end to find out if they could work things out to my satisfaction. They did.

You will have a pleasant time while reading this book but don't expect a real thriller nor a love story. Many facts - at least the political ones can't be true in many ways. Some times the book wanders outside the story and that makes the reading a little boring. I agree that the book has a good message for you to keep but it's harping all the time you're reading and that also make the story dull. Of course as these kind of books the end is a fairy tale.

Cassidy McKnight goes to Brazil to collect Alexis, orphan of her late friends who were missionaries in that country, & have left Cassidy guardianship of their daughter. Only it isn't quite that easy. Somebody knows of her being in Brazil, & has set her up to be kidnapped. Cassidy prays that she will get out before her mother hears she's disappeared - first her brother Micah, a Navy SEAL, disappearing on a mission 2 years ago & now her! It would kill her.

The ambassador to Brazil, Jonathan McKnight has received a ransom note: his daughter in exchange for the secrets of his government. He contacts Gabriel Sinclair, former Navy SEAL & leader of the mission 2 years ago which went horribly wrong & his best friend Micah McKnight disappeared, & requests Gabe rescue his daughter.

Gabe is not happy to be given this mission. He can't forget what happened the last time he was in Brazil. However, with "Take care of Cassidy" ringing in his ears, Micah's last words to him, he knows he has to see it through.

A race through the Amazon jungle commences as Gabe & Cassidy flee the rebels who have been holding her, pick up Alexis & get to the plane scheduled to meet them & get them back to the States. But instead of the safety Cassidy assumed she would have on returning home, danger dogs her steps. Gabe, determined to get to the bottom of it, discovers the secrets that have been lurking not far from Cassidy's doorstep.

I really enjoyed this very fast paced, action filled story. Look out for the following 2 in the series also:

This book was full of mystery and suspense. Cassidy Mcknight, the daughter of a wealthy ambassador, turned her life and heart over to God. She tries to a brave and unselfish act and finds herself in the hands of a killer. Gabe Sinclair, an old acquaintance and ex-Navy Seal, brings her home from an unexpected hostage situation. Only when they think she is safe, does the killer strike again.

This book is full of suspense and twists and turns. I never knew what to expect! The secrets and mysteries surrounding the characters pasts keep you wondering what will happen next and if everything will turn out the way you want it to.

Don't worry - you'll love the beginning, middle, and the end. A must read for all of you mystery readers out there!

Lethal Deception is an exciting book, but also one that will touch your heart. Cassidy and Gabe's interaction with Lexie is priceless and the twists in the story will keep you reading. Just when you think you know all the answers, something new pops up and makes you ask yourself how you missed those clues.
