3.0 out of 5 stars Ace Combat 4 is still the best....., September 20, 2003

This review is from: Lethal Skies II (Video Game)
Although I have only played through the first few levels of "Lethal Skies 2", I thought I should review it since no one else has at this time. The graphics are a notch below what they should be, especially since "Ace Combat 4" came out 2 years ago, and it still looks better than this game. The planes themselves look somewhat choppy, and the levels are lacking detail badly. The music, though you can choose the track before you play a level, is all generic rock that gets on your nerves fast. (There are 25 tracks or so to choose from and I could tolerate only a few.)

Now on to the gameplay and control...which needs help too. If you are familiar with "Ace Combat" controls, this game will not feel as tight. You dont really get a solid feel/control of the plane, thus making it more difficult to dogfight than it should be. The missle targeting system is flawed, where once you launch a missle it automatically locks off the target, and in order to fire that second missle (to complete the kill), you must lock on again.

For those of us expecting "Ace Combat" quality out of this game you might be a little dissappointed like me. But if you need a new jet fighter game, get this game but dont expect to be thrilled.

4.0 out of 5 stars For the Good Gamers, October 23, 2004

= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Lethal Skies II (Video Game)
Leathal Skies II may not beat to Ace Combat 4 (Its only real competition) on the graphics front, but it has it in every other aspect. I own both games, and got bored of Ace Combat 4 within two hours. I'm still playing Leathal Skies.

This game has very realistic flight patterns, and you just can't do anything that's physically impossible. Your payload (missles, et cetera) is also realistic. You can actually see your missles in the replays, and when you launch a missle, it is gone. You see it depart from your wing, and when you see your plane next, the missle is gone! Let's see Ace Combat compare to that. (With its 52 missles in 3 cubic feet)

Even on the graphics front I am liking it. It has georgious landscapes, although they do get a little sketchy if you're too low to the ground (id est, about to crash) The plane graphics and HUD are superior to Ace Combat 4.

And now for the best part, the gameplay! Wheras with Ace Combat, you can practically beat it with your eyes closed, and it gets very boring as a consequence, in Leathal Skies I'm finding it hard to get past the 4th level! And that's on easy! I can almost gaurentee that you will only stop playing if you are stuck, not bored.

It has a nice little plotline, and although you as a pilot don't have a uniqe personality, your wingman (and wingwoman) do. They don't just send you on some randome arse mission, you are actually sent there for a reason, and that reason is explained.

However, due to its dificulty curve, I would recomend Ace Combat 4 to any gamers who outright stink at games. But if you're average or above, this is probably the game for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Start In Understanding Air Combat!, January 14, 2011

Unlike 'Ace Combat 4', the graphics for the story-line was Very-Good! The Arial Graphics were Good/Very Good! The Challenges in each Stages, were well planned and worth-well playing! The Fighter Designs/Lay-outs were Good, but not Great. Actually, almost better than 'Ace Combat 4', almost! The Best Graphics I have seen so far is 'Ace Combat 5'! 'Lethal Skies II', comes close.
