5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Read..........., September 18, 2009
This review is from: Lethal Vintage (Hardcover)
My book club had read "Death by the Glass and Sharpshooter" so when I found this book I was really excited. We loved both of these books and rated it as one of our top reads that year and "Lethal Vintage" is right up there, too. The author takes you to Napa to experience not only a mystery but what life is like in Napa Valley. I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend this book for those who like mysteries and the experience of being in a beautiful place. I've been to Napa Valley many times and loved reading about those places. Enjoy is all I can say!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Sense of Place, May 23, 2011

The reader who enters this story will be immersed in place: the wine country setting of California. It's obvious that the author knows this setting intimately and can render it to the degree that we almost feel the heat and languor, can see the dry dust on mountain roads, and can taste the wine and food. The mystery and solution are plausible and satisfying. My one complaint is that the pace seems slow.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth waiting for, leaves me hungry for more!, May 26, 2010

It was a long wait for the latest Sunny McCoskey Napa Valley Mystery, but Lethal Vintage turned out to be well worth the wait. Nadia Gordon has tightened up the writing, packing more characterization, plot, and context into this novel. It's really the best of the series (a nice change from the run-of-the mill series, which tend to decline in quality as they progress).
I am looking forward to the next one!

Warning: reading this book WILL make you hungry. And thirsty for a glass of a luscious red wine or, if it's morning, a splash of cab in your coffee!

Nadia Gordon has again exceeded expectations for her richly written characters, producing a plot that is unlikely to be ferreted out early, and for exposing the vapid lives of her scurilous villians. It is great to read each successive novel as she expands the character of the friends surrounding Sonny. My kitchen is alive with the aromas of attempting to replicate some of the repasts you feel like you can actually smell as you read. I have yet to take more than 24 hours to read any book in the series including Lethal Vintage. Opening this novel is just like driving up the valley with a plan to find that perfect restaurant with the perfect wine match. I hope Nadia continues to entertain and expand my love of the Napa Valley and her charismatic characters.
