Rosa & Lula ...oh yeah!!!!, October 2, 2005
This review is from: Letra e Musica: Ary Barroso (Audio CD)
I divide the time into before and after Rosa Passos.Looking backwards it is difficult to imagine a "musical life" without Rosa Passos. Her singing is so obvious ,she is just herself,it is the "real" Rosa Passos we hear all the time. I have listened to her music more or less every day since that day in March this year when I heard her the first time.
On this record she is joined by a group of terribly good brasilian musicians ,,they create a very tight bossa groove..the guitarplayer is Lula Galvao.who I first heard on the "Entre Amios CD".He get a crystal clear sound out of his accoustic guitar..and his chord conception is wonderful.same level as Kenny Burrell...a hightlight is his guitarplaying on the "Polha Morta" which at first does not have any pulse at all..then Lula is backing Rosa with beautiful chord movements and it all ends in a wonderful single string solo on the guitar.
I had my doubts at first that this CD would be as "digestable" as the ones Rosa done where they been more wellknown tunes (at least for a non brasilan citizen) but not so...actually it does'nt matter what tunes Rosa is doing it will end up being extremely good anyway!!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for the bossa lover"""

Rosa Passos/Lula Galvão: a wonderful musical marriage, July 6, 2008
This review is from: Letra e Musica: Ary Barroso (Audio CD)
Just the single note soloing improvisation of Lula Galvão(one of the best guitars players at the world nowadays)in the the "Folha Morta" track, overddubing his own also astonishing harmony playing, makes this Cd worth of six stars.
