Good strict tempo dance music, October 24, 2007
This review is from: Lets Dance 2 (Audio CD)
Graham Dalby and the Grahamophones deliver all instrumental, strict-tempo dance music that compares favorably with recordings by the Columbia Ballroom Orchestra and the Swiss Ballroom Orchestra. These recordings were made in August, 1994, and the selection of music was supervised by Sarah Seagers. She is both a dance teacher and a member of the London Ballroom Society.
The strict tempos are helpful for newer dancers because the beat does not change except for a slight slowing at the end of the track. The waltzes tend to be a little faster than today's competition standards. The first waltz on this second volume is at a Viennese tempo. The foxtrots are listed with two speeds: foxtrot and slow foxtrot. The slow foxtrots are closer to current Dancesport expectations. All of this is fun to dance to.
Here are the titles, durations, and suggested dance for each track:
Skye Boat / Greensleeves / Amazing grace 2:54, Viennese Waltz
Zing! Went the strings of my heart 2:59, Foxtrot
Jeepers creepers 2:59, Quickstep

Carnival 2:19, Samba
Theme from "Mash" 2:27, Rumba
Cherry pink and apple blossom white 3:01, Chacha

If you don't know me by now 3:17, Waltz
